The Washington Ballet Presents THE SLEEPING BEAUTY SOIREE

Be transported to medieval times and experience the magical world of The Sleeping Beauty at Princess Aurora's 16th birthday in an evening that includes an exquisite selection of wines, signature cocktails, food and dancing. The Sleeping Beauty Soire e promises to be a transformative experience like no other Friday, February 8 at 7:30 pm in celebration of The Washington Ballet.

Guests will be greeted by royal trumpeters as they walk through a fanciful forest and into the castle where they can join the royal court for a regal celebration. Soon they will find themselves immersed in an enchanted dream world where all their senses will be enticed with sights and sounds that define the story of true love's first kiss.

Waltzing courtiers, dueling knights, singers from the Washington Revels and costumed dancers from The Washington Ballet will bring the evening to life. Pop-up singers and dancers will perform vignette pieces while attendees enjoy a full medieval-inspired buffet feast. Lamb chops on the bone, salmon, chicken strudel, potato and onion gratine e and passed hors d'oeuvres will nourish while spiked cider-inspired grog will be served up in goblets along with wine and prosecco.

Attendees will also enjoy excerpts from The Washington Ballet's The Sleeping Beauty. This will provide a glimpse of the upcoming performances of the ballet when the company returns to The Kennedy Center Eisenhower Theater, Wednesday, February 27-Sunday, March 3. The iconic ballet classic set to Tchaikovsky's beautiful score includes luxurious period costumes, dramatic sets and the original 1890 choreography as well as staging and additional choreography by Julie Kent and Victor Barbee and live music by The Washington Ballet Orchestra.
Other highlights planned for this extraordinary benefit include the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets to win the following prizes:

The evening ends with a dance party with music by DJ ALKIMIST where everyone including members of The Washington Ballet can dance, joust, eat cake and celebrate Princess Aurora.

Hosted by the Women's Committee of The Washington Ballet with Co-Chairs Rachel Firschein, Glenda Harvey, Sara Lange and Kim Pyle, the evening benefits The Washington Ballet's artistic programs. Proceeds raise critical funds to support high quality classical and contemporary ballets in our community as well as Julie Kent's artistic vision to build national recognition for The Washington Ballet.
