The SEATTLE INTERNATIONAL DANCE FESTIVAL Returns This June

The Seattle International Dance Festival (SIDF) has grown to three full weeks of activities; and infuses the city with new creative dance energy from around the globe. The free Art on the Fly outdoor event and the new James Ray Residency premieres allow dance artists to share their work in new environments to new audiences. This year's bold mix of global and local artists from places such as Israel, Canada, Switzerland, Japan, New York and LA bring fresh voices and vision to Seattle audiences.

The festival runs for 17 days from June 7-23 and starts with an opening night party for the dance-loving general public. SIDF partners with City Arts magazine for the first ever Opening Night party and Shuffle. The June 7th Shuffle presents performances by randomly matched dance and musical artists who weave together new works created in a week.

On Saturday June 9th the festival hits full speed with the free, outdoor family-friendly Art on the Fly at Denny Park and the first weekend of the Inter|National Series performances. In week two more International Artists perform as well as five emerging and established Seattle-based artists from the James Ray Residency Program who will present the culmination of their year-long artistic residencies. Always popular with audiences, two Spotlights are presented during the final week of the festival: Spotlight on Contemporary Ballet and Spotlight on Seattle Now. For the first time ever, Pacific Northwest Ballet's Next Step program will partner with SIDF to introduce an emerging artist to Spotlight on Contemporary Ballet. Curators for the Spotlight events include: Donald Byrd, Cyrus Khambatta, Kiyon Gaines, Eva Stone, Dr. Victoria Watts, Constanze Villines, and Betsey Brock.

Tickets to paid performances are $25 in advance, $30 at the door (25 and under are $18 in advance, $22 at the door). A 2-Show pass is $40, the All Festival Pass is $85 and the Premium Pass is $135 (includes reserved seating, complimentary beverages and entrance to the opening night party.) Details, performance times, locations and ticketing information are available at www.SeattleIDF.org. Most performances are at Broadway Performance Hall.
