Aurora Theatre Company kicks off its 30th season with Dael Orlandersmith's STOOP STORIES. Elizabeth Carter (Eureka Day, The Heir Apparent, Wittenberg, Trouble In Mind) directs Jeunée Simon (The Bluest Eye) in this poetic one-hander comprised of stories drawn from Orlandersmith's personal life and limitless imagination.

Aurora Theatre Company has announced the company’s newest Originate + Generate (O+G) commission, Bay Area playwright Cleavon Smith (The Flats). Smith has been commissioned to create a new play specifically for Aurora. The working title of the piece is MORE OFTEN THAN NOT.
This Halloween, TheatreFIRST invites you to find out in From The Ground Up: An Anthology of Ghost Stories Made New. Willing audience members will find themselves immersed in an oddity shop, curated by a mysterious store owner who seems to have already known you were coming. It will soon be clear that you will find that you are as trapped in the room as the stories your being told.
This season, TheatreFIRST gets intimate. While our home at the Live Oak Theater is being renovated, this season will be held at our new black box space, The Waterfront Playhouse at 2020 Fourth St. in Berkeley.
Central Works summer season continues with Christina Gorman's political thriller, Roan @ The Gates, opening July 20 and running through August 18 (previews July 18 & 19). The production is directed by M. Graham Smith, positing in Gorman's words "If our government can access information from your present or your past, they can use it to get you to do what they want. What's being collected and stored is not information, it's leverage."
