WHEN:7:30pm, Saturday, May 144:00pm, Sunday, May 15 California Symphony, led by Music Director Donato Cabrera, concludes its 2021-22 season with a spectacular" EPIC FINALE," featuring the symphonys live premiere of Young American Composer-in-Residence Viet Cuongs "Next Weeks Trees." This work was presented online in May 2021, and now receives its long-awaited in-person premiere at California Symphony.Also on the program is internationally acclaimed Bay Area native and cellist Nathan Chan performing Edward Elgars beloved "Cello Concerto." The program rounds out with Tchaikovskys epic symphony, "Symphony No. 5," which transforms from dark and menacing in the first movement, to joyous and triumphant by the fourth and final movement ending the evening on a high note.

Following a strong virtual season that attracted new audiences from across the state and around the world, California Symphony, under the leadership of Music Director Donato Cabrera, returns to live concerts at the Lesher Center for the Arts in Walnut Creek for its 2021-22 season. California Symphony's new season furthers its promise to present innovative programming, exciting guest artists, and music by living composers, women, and composers of color.
