In April, New Conservatory Theatre Center is thrilled to present Philip Dawkins' The Gentleman Caller, directed by Arturo Catricala. After incredibly successful productions of The Homosexuals (2014) and Le Switch (2017) playwright Philip Dawkins is rapidly becoming an NCTC favorite.

Before becoming icons of American theatre, Tennessee Williams and William Inge were just two aspiring playwrights sharing a night together, shut away from the world's judgment. As the liquor flows and confessions begin to spill out, these men reveal sides of themselves the public never saw, in all their vulnerabilities, flaws, and triumphs.

The Gentleman Caller runs Apr 5 - May 5, 2019. Opening Night is Saturday, April 13, 2019 at 8pm. Tickets are $25-55 and available at nctcsf.org, emailing boxoffice@nctcsf.org or by calling (415) 861-8972.

Playwright Philip Dawkins is a Chicago playwright whose work has been produced internationally. His plays Miss Marx: or The Involuntary Side Effect of Living and Charm both won the Joseph Jefferson Award for Best New Work and he received Joseph Jefferson Nominations for New Work for The Homosexuals, Le Switch (Regional Premieres at NCTC) and Failure: A Love Story. Dawkins is an Artistic Associate at About Face Theatre and Ensemble Playwright at Victory Gardens.

Director Arturo Catricala's recent projects for New Conservatory Theatre Center include The Lisbon Traviata, The Mystery of Irma Vep, The Perfect Ganesh, Mothers & Sons, Other Desert Cities, Rights of Passage, Leaving the Blues and It's Only a Play among numerous others. Mr. Catricala studied stage directing at Fordham University's College at Lincoln Center and NYU's School of the Arts. He is a member of SDC, the national union of Stage Directors and Choreographers and LMDA, Literary Managers & Dramaturges of America.

The cast of The Gentleman Caller includes Adam Niemann (Bill Inge) and Brennan Pickman-Thoon (Tennessee Williams).

The creative team includes costume design by Keri Fitch, stage management by Toni Guidry, scenic design by Kevin Landesman, lighting design by Chris Lundahl, props design by Tom O'Brien, and sound design by Kalon Thibodeaux.

New Conservatory Theatre Center has been San Francisco's premier LGBTQIA performing arts institution and progressive arts education conservatory since 1981. NCTC is renowned for its diverse range of innovative, high-quality productions, touring productions and shows for young audiences; its foundational anti-bullying work with youth and educators through YouthAware; and its commitment to developing new plays to continue expanding the canon of Queer and Allied dramatic work.
