Ballet Sun Valley Presents San Francisco Ballet Performing At Sun Valley Pavilion

Ballet Sun Valley announces today that it will present the internationally acclaimed San Francisco Ballet led by Artistic Director Helgi Tomasson, July 5 and 7, 2019, in the Sun Valley Pavilion. This much anticipated weekend of dance will also feature an Education Program, that was developed to inspire and teach all levels of ballet to young students from around the country.

Ballet Sun Valley's inaugural Festival was held in 2012 when it presented San Francisco Ballet. This performance received rave reviews of the San Francisco Ballet as did the Sun Valley Pavilion as a venue for dance. Passionate supporters of world-class ballet were mesmerized by the beauty of internationally acclaimed dancers performing in an open-air venue that created a unique intimacy between the art-form, the bending aspens and drifting clouds, and, the Pavilion audience. A long-time ballet enthusiast observed, "A pure joy!"

The San Francisco Ballet, long recognized for pushing creative boundaries in dance, is led by Artistic Director and Principal Choreographer, Helgi Tomasson. Mr. Tomasson's professional dance career spans from Europe to New York City Ballet where this company's founding choreographers, George Balanchine and Jerome Robbins, both created roles expressly for Tomasson. SF Ballet, known for its excellence in classical ballet, is also known for the ability of its dancers to perform the most challenging and demanding contemporary works. The company's 2018 season included the "Unbound Festival," a festival of twelve new works by some of today's most celebrated choreographers and a series of some of the most cutting-edge dance in the world of ballet.

Ballet Sun Valley's Festival 2019 will feature two very distinct programs. The first evening will be a Gala-style performance, with a number of pas de deux and shorter dances. The second night will feature a mixed repertory-style performance with three longer works.

Ballet Sun Valley is a corporate non-profit organization, the predecessor of which was founded in 2011 to bring international ballet to the Sun Valley, Idaho area.
