Archie, The Festival Ballet Nutcracker Dog, is retiring after 19 years and 150 glittering performances. Festival Ballet Providence is looking to replace Archie with some friendly, furry local talent.

More than 40 hopefuls tried out for the role last week and eleven dogs were "called back" for a final audition to replace the famous pooch. Fans of are holding their breath waiting to hear which pup will win the coveted role. The pressure is on.

The final tryout takes place on the very stage where Festival Ballet's "The Nutcracker" will be performed, Providence Performing Arts Center. Judges will watch carefully to determine which dog has what it takes to prance across the stage and leap into stardom. The media is invited to witness this exciting contest and cheer on the contestants.
