by Kelsey Denette - Apr 15, 2011 Pete Townshend's score won the Tony Award in 1993 when The Who's concept album from the late 1960's was transferred to the Broadway stage. Townshend said he used Tommy's afflictions to represent the 'basic blindness to reality' shared by most of the general population. The role of Tommy will be portrayed on The Media Theatre stage by Peter Kriss who has been seen in regional productions of 'Footloose' and 'Fame'.
