Wolverhampton Grand Theatre has today revealed the first teaser trailer for the upcoming in-house production of Alan Bennett's THE HISTORY BOYS from 7 a?" 22 February 2020.

Three actors are desperate for work. They try commercials, they try theatre, they even try movies of questionable repute but all fails. So they take their show on the road hoping to find employment in America's heartland. There they discover an America redder than red and a society on the verge of implosion and despair. Set in the present day, this comedy speaks to the darkest psyche of a troubled nation.

The Arvada Center is making a bold move with its current main-stage production. Ahead of the first public preview tonight, producers have released rehearsal footage and creative interviews for Quasimodo, the last great unproduced musical by Oliver! composer Lionel Bart, which is getting its World Premiere, 50 years after it was written. Everybody's been talking about the animatronic pig which cost a reported £100,000 for Cameron Mackintosh's new musical comedy BETTY BLUE EYES, based on the Handmade Film 'A PRIVATE FUNCTION' by Alan Bennett and Malcolm Mowbray. Robert Foxworth plays King Lear and Bruce Turk the Fool in Shakespeare's tragedy, directed by Festival Artistic Director Adrian Noble. The crowns are swapped in Alan Bennett's The Madness of George III, also helmed by Noble, where Miles Anderson will play King George III and Foxworth will play Dr. Willis. The Festival also includes Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew directed by Ron Daniels with Jonno Roberts and Emily Swallow as the two sparring lovers.
