Boston Baroque will celebrate its 50th Year with a season led by founding Music Director Martin Pearlman.

Boston Baroque's 50th Season concludes with the much-anticipated annual staged opera with performances of Gluck's rarely-heard Iphigénie en Tauride. Performances will take place on Thursday, April 20 at 8pm, Friday, April 21 at 8pm, and Sunday, April 23 at 3pm at GBH's Calderwood Studio in Brighton, MA. The Friday evening performance will also be livestreamed on the global streaming platform IDAGIO, welcoming virtual audiences around the world alongside live studio audiences on site.

The Metropolitan Opera's recent production of The Hours, starring Renée Fleming, Kelli O'Hara, and Joyce DiDonato, will air on PBS. Phelim McDermott directs with Met Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducting. Christine Baranski will host the special.

New York Festival of Song, led by Artistic Director Steven Blier, will continue its 2022-2023 season with Amor on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at 8:00pm at Merkin Hall at Kaufman Music Center.

The Santa Fe Opera has announced the 44 members of its 2023 Apprentice Program for Singers. The roster includes promising young vocalists from across the USA including the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, as well as from East Africa, Australia, Canada, China, South America and South Korea.

First, Boston Baroque presents two works by Mozart—his “Jupiter” Symphony No. 41 and the Sinfonia concertante featuring soloists Christina Day Martinson, violin, and Jason Fisher, viola. Finally, the season comes to a close with a new production of Gluck's opera Iphigénie en Tauride starring Wendy Bryn Harmer, William Burden, and Jesse Blumberg.

The Met gave birth to a fascinating new opera on Tuesday and it wasn’t a moment too soon to unleash composer Kevin Puts’s THE HOURS on an audience that sometimes seems doomed to die inundated by too many AIDAs, BOHEMEs and CARMENs. The world premiere production of THE HOURS by Puts and Greg Pierce was directed by Phelim McDermott. The cast was a starry one, led by soprano Renee Fleming, soprano Kelli O’Hara and mezzo Joyce DiDonato.

Is there another Shakespearean drama filled with as many quotable quotes as “Hamlet” (even when they’re used out of context and given a foreign meaning)? But “To be or not to be” is surely the most referenced and, certainly, in the new operatic HAMLET currently at the Met by Brett Dean and Matthew Jocelyn, in Neil Armfield’s thoughtful, urgent production, it's given the best showcase. Indeed, it helps shed a different light on the hero of the story.

On May 13, the Metropolitan Opera will present the company premiere of Australian composer Brett Dean’s Hamlet, a bold adaptation of Shakespeare’s timeless drama, with six additional performances through June 9.
