Seattle Opera Continues 'Creating Amelia' Series Thru 4/26

The University Village Barnes & Noble continues to host Seattle Opera's 'Creating Amelia' series this week (thru Sunday, April 18) by hosting a book fair. In the weeks leading up to the world premiere of AMELIA, Seattle Opera presents a variety of panel discussions, lectures, and other events designed to provide unique insight into the development of this new work and reach out to new communities with particular ties to the opera's story and themes. The book fair features works from both Amelia librettist Gardner McFall and composer Daron Aric Hagen. Seattle Opera benefits from the sale of ALL items in the store during this week. Mention the Seattle Opera at checkout, and a portion of the sale will be donated back to them. In addition to the book fair, two live-streamed Amelia events still remain- 'Creating Amelia' and a Librettist Lecture.

Seattle Theatre Group (STG) hosts its first annual fundraiser, DOORS: Opening Doors to the Arts on Friday, May 29 at 6:30pm. DOORS promises to be a fun, informal evening with great food and entertainment to help STG raise $100,000. Proceeds support STG's education and community programs, access to the arts for people of all ages, training, and performance opportunities and historic Paramount and Moore Theatres.

Teens ?N' Theater will present its 14th Annual Young Playwrights Festival at 7 pm on May 7th and at 4:30 pm on May 9th and 10th in the Hitchcock Studio Theater at The Rose, 2001 Farnam Street. This year's Young Playwrights Festival will feature five original plays written by teen playwrights, performedby an ensemble cast of 30 actors, and directed by Rose educators Kevin Ehrhart and Mari Martinez.
