Final Week at Lincoln Center Out of Doors Features Tributes to Gil Scott-Heron, Nick Ashford and More thru 8/12

It may be the final week of Lincoln Center Out of Doors, but the festival isn't winding down when it comes to exciting performances. This week, Lincoln Center celebrates the 40th Anniversary of the landmark Soul at the Center, highlighted by Valerie Simpson's first tribute to her late partner, Nick Ashford, since his passing. The pair that wrote such Motown hits as "Ain't No Mountain High Enough," "Reach Out and Touch (Somebody's Hand)," and "I'm Every Woman," made their performing debut as a duo at Lincoln Center 40 years ago. The Tribute takes place on Friday, August 10 at Damrosch Park.

Opera New Jersey and the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra present the Fourth Annual Midsummer Celebration, sponsored by William and Judith Scheide, at the Richardson Auditorium in Princeton tonight, July 26, at 8 p.m. The program, featuring opera excerpts from Wagner, Verdi and Boito, celebrates Opera New Jersey's 10th anniversary season.

Oregon Shakespeare Festiva Opens ALL THE WAY, 7/28

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival will produce the world premiere of All the Way, written by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Robert Schenkkan and directed by Bill Rauch, OSF artistic director. The production is the fourth commission fromAmerican Revolutions: the United States History Cycle to premiere at OSF and the second this season. All the Way is the third Robert Schenkkan play produced at OSF (Handler, 2002; By the Waters of Babylon, 2005).

Performances are April 2-4 at the Cox Building Playhouse, 1517 H Avenue in Plano, with seven plays presented on Thursday and Saturday nights at 8:00 p.m. and seven plays presented on Friday at 8:00 p.m. and Saturday at 2:00 p.m.

Richard Pilbow Wins 2008 Wally Russell Lifetime Achievement Award

Esteemed lighting designer, theatre consultant, and author Richard Pilbrow is the winner of the 2008 Wally Russell Lifetime Achievement Award, which will be presented on Saturday evening, October 25, at the LDI Awards ceremony during LDI2008 in Las Vegas.
