Sacred Fools Opens West Coast Premiere Of ANTIGONE

The Sacred Fools Theater Company is rounding out its Prime Season with the West Coast Premiere of Antigone, Presented by the Girls of St. Catherine's by Madhuri Shekar, directed by Reena Dutt. Opening Friday, March 6 and running through April 11 in the Broadwater Main Stage, the show will run Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, with Sunday matinees on March 22 and 29, and April 5 at 3pm and one performance on Monday, March 30 at 8pm.

The lines between myth and reality become increasingly blurred in Defenders. When Iceland was threatened with invasion by Germany in WW2, the allies decide to step in. The world premiere from Pandelia's Canary Yellow Company by Cailin Maureen Harrison, and directed by Reena Dutt, follows three American G.I.s who are shipwrecked on the remote island of Hrisey off Iceland's northern coast.

The lines between myth and reality become increasingly blurred in Defenders. When Iceland was threatened with invasion by Germany in WW2, the allies decide to step in. The world premiere from Pandelia's Canary Yellow Company by Cailin Maureen Harrison, and directed by Reena Dutt, follows three American G.I.s who are shipwrecked on the remote island of Hrisey off Iceland's northern coast. The stranded G.I.s find themselves with missing weapons, few supplies, and a broken radio. They realize they must rely on the locals for survival but, like current-day warfare, the locals fear the loss of their culture, their women and their safety with the presence of foreigners on their land. Defenders opens on November 9, with performances continuing through December 8 at The Broadwater Black Box in Hollywood. One lower-priced preview takes place on November 8.

Sacred Fools Launches New Works Reading Series

The Sacred Fools Theater Company is kicking off its New Works Reading Series with presentations of four unproduced plays from emerging playwrights that embrace the theatrical form and speak to the diverse culture of contemporary society. The readings will take place on four Sundays at 5:00 pm in late January and February. These readings will be held in the Second Stage at the Broadwater Theater Complex and attendance is free to the public. A series reception will follow the first reading next door at The Broadwater Plunge.

TooManyBodies.Org: Artists United to make America safe again Wednesday, September 26, 2018 marked the launch and premiere of an extremely well-done and effective music video entitled 'Too Many Bodies.' It addresses gun reform through music and dance, combining the song 'Place Called Us,' composed by Alex Mackey with very moving and expressive choreography by Nancy Dobbs Owen. Directed and Produced by Reena Dutt, as well as co-Producers Puppett, Danielle Phelan and Penelope Wong, it gives an unusual portrayal of a school shooting; beginning immediately after the shooting, and by means of going back in time, recreating the moments before and afterwards with quite a potent effect. You Hear two Gunshots, and see mostly darkness except for a young woman's face...
