Below, note the following updates to Carnegie Hall's 2017-18 schedule, reflecting changes made since the season was originally announced in January 2017. 

The Phantom Tollbooth's fantastical adventures and quirky characters will soon leap from the page to the stage, as the beloved children's book opens Childsplay's 41st season of theatre for young audiences. Using puppets, mysteriously fun set design and stellar projections, Milo, Tock the Watchdog, and The Humbug will come to life at Tempe Center for the Arts Sept. 17 through Oct. 15, 2017, Saturdays at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. and Sundays at 1 p.m.

Carnegie Hall's 2017-2018 season is fast approaching, with many opportunities for families to take part in fun, interactive concerts and other activities that celebrate the joy of music and develop creativity, imagination, and musical curiosity in people of all ages.

Much like Lewis Carroll's ALICE'S ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND and L. Frank Baum's THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF OZ, Norton Juster's THE PHANTOM TOLL BOOTH is a fantasy adventure. All three are perceived as tales for children, but, in reality, though they are intended to teach youngsters, the messages are often so complex that they go over the heads of their intended audience.

The award-winning Young People's Chorus of New York City and Artistic Director and Founder Francisco J. Nuñez continue their groundbreaking Transient Glory new music series with the world premieres of six choral works for young voices in concerts at National Sawdust on Today, November 4 at 7:00 p.m. and Merkin Concert Hall on Sunday, November 6 at 7:00 p.m.

Georgetown meets DC's own percussion-driven go-go music, an offshoot of funk, in a booty-shaking new musical created by 'singular playwright-director' (Boston Globe) Professor Natsu Onoda Power, a faculty member of Georgetown University's Theater & Performance Studies Program and artistic director of the Davis Performing Arts Center, and Charles 'Shorty Corleone' Garris, music producer/educator, and lead singer of DC Go-Go band Rare Essence.

The Workshop Theater Company will honor Sheldon Harnick with the Jewel Box Award at their 3rd annual unGala on Monday, October 17, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at The Lindeman 508 W. 42nd Street.

Multi-award winning Foothill Music Theatre presents SHE LOVES ME, the charming 1963 musical adaptation of Miklos Laszlo's play Parfumerie (which later inspired the Tom Hanks-Meg Ryan feature film You've Got Mail), with a score by Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick (Fiddler on the Roof) and a book by Joe Masteroff (Cabaret).

Living legend Sheldon Harnick, who is currently represented on Broadway with FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, was just honored with one of Sardi's legendary portraits. BroadwayWorld was there for the special day and you can check out photos below!

Carnegie Hall presents Orchestra of St. Luke's in five concerts in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage this season, starting tonight, October 29 at 8:00 p.m. with Principal Conductor Pablo Heras-Casado leading a program that includes Stravinsky's Suite No. 2; and Tchaikovsky's rarely heard Symphony No. 1 in G Minor, Op. 13, 'Winter Daydreams.' Also on the program is Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in E Minor, Op. 64 with soloist Christian Tetzlaff.

This weekend, October 17-18, Carnegie Hall celebrates families with an interactive Fall Family Weekend in the Resnick Education Wing. During this free musical extravaganza, with activities ongoing from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day, kids and grownups alike can participate in songwriting workshops, create and play their own instruments, join in sing-alongs, listen to musical stories, and explore a digital music playground. Both days will also feature performances in the Weill Music Room by Carnegie Kids performers Sbongiseni Duma at 11:00 a.m., Elizabeth Mitchell and You Are My Flower at 12:30 p.m., and Shine and the Moonbeams at 2:00 p.m. Please note: reservations for the Fall Family Weekend are currently full, but additional guests will be admitted as capacity allows via a standby line.
