On Saturday, March 21, 2015 from 8pm-midnight, Kitchen Theatre Company will host its 5th Annual Dance the Night Away party to celebrate its 24th season. Dance the Night Away is an evening of dancing to live music Little Joe and the Big Shots, great food and delicious drinks. And, when the band takes a break - performances by 'celebrity dancers' delight party-goers.

Tejano music pioneer Jose Maria DeLeon Hernandez-"Little Joe"-and his La Familia band will perform in concert at the Gallo Center for the Arts at 8 pm on Friday, October 10. It is his first appearance at the performing arts venue since his 2011 debut.

At 80 years old, Dr. Michael E. Glasscock III may be the busiest and most productive octogenarian in the country. He is an internationally recognized clinician, surgeon and educator in otolaryngology. He still performs ear implant surgeries to alleviate sensorineural hearing loss at The Glasscock Hearing Implant Center in Houston. He currently serves as an Adjunct Professor at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville and acts as a consultant to three medical device companies. He has authored more than 250 peer-reviewed publications and a reference book, Surgery of the Ear, considered by his peers to be the definitive textbook on the subject. Glasscock, who himself suffers from hearing loss, has been involved in the development of two major middle ear implants that have been approved by the FDA. He also is an actor who has appeared in commercials and independent films, and a licensed airplane and helicopter pilot.

UCSB's LAUNCH PAD program was featured in the March 2013 issue of American Theatre magazine as an innovative model of new play development in the US. While professional theatres are not always able to take a risk on producing new work, the university offers a playwright the chance to see the play produced in a safe environment with students who are deeply engaged and hungry to learn how this process works. Since its inception in 2005, the department has developed and produced 9 plays with the playwright in residence.

Easter Seals of Central Texas presents its first annual Dia de los Muertos Festival, to be held from Noon until 10:00 p.m., today, October 19, 2013 at Fiesta Gardens in downtown Austin, TX. This unique festival features a full day Dia los Muertos cultural experience with live music, performances, art, costume contest, food and drink. The festival brings together a dynamic blend of the Austin musical landscape with vibrant Dia de los Muertos traditions. Proceeds will benefit Easter Seals of Central Texas' mission of providing exceptional services to people with disabilities.

Kitchen Theatre Hosts Record-Breaking Fundraiser, Dance the Night Away

On Saturday, April 28, Kitchen Theatre Company (KTC) hosted Dance the Night Away, the theatre's 21st anniversary celebration. Local celebrities and members of the KTC staff participated in a friendly dance competition. Performing the Cha-Cha with Dr. Kristna Kapur, dancer Dr. Luis Mauleon raised the most money, winning the competition and a weekend trip to New York City for two. Dance the Night Away raised a grand total of $40,000 for the Kitchen Theatre Company-the most successful fundraising event in KTC history.
