It was another sold out show at Reynolds Performance Hall, 223 Beatrice Powell St., in Conway, Friday, Feb. 16, for LITTLE WOMEN THE MUSICAL. With Book by Allan Knee, Music by Jason Howland, and Lyrics by Mindi Dickstein, this Louisa May Alcott classic, told through song and dance, entertained generations of March sister fans.
Review: LITTLE WOMEN ASTONISHES AUDIENCE MEMBERS IN JACKSON at Thalia Mara Hall
by Juliana Asbill
- Feb 14, 2024
What do you get when you take a fiercely determined young woman, her three vastly different but equally loyal sisters, an imagination that can create whole operatic tragedies in the space of an old attic? Little Women the Musical, which made a stop at Thalia Mara Hall in Jackson, Mississippi on February 6th. The second in the Broadway in Jackson season presented by Trustmark, the show brought to life a story beloved by generations and set it to music. Presented by Big League Productions, Inc., the production itself ran the entire gamut of emotion in just a couple of hours.
Review: LITTLE WOMEN Is Big News In Theatre Representation at the Strand in Baltimore
by Cybele Pomeroy
- Dec 8, 2023
Under Kaitlyn Fowler’s direction, the March family becomes real. A real family has commitment, but also strife and arguments. Most renditions of the Marches are tidy, sanitized, prettified. Fowler’s March family is messy, complicated and sincerely relatable. A terrific performance for your family's festive holiday outing.
Review: LITTLE WOMEN THE MUSICAL at The Royal Theatre
by Theresa Bertram
- Aug 23, 2023
What did our critic think of LITTLE WOMEN THE MUSICAL at The Royal Theatre? The classic novel Little Women by Louisa May Alcott is a favorite amongst our household, so we were excited when we heard LITTLE WOMEN THE MUSICAL was going to be at The Royal Theatre, 111 S Market St., in Benton, August 3-13, 2023. I am confident in reporting that there were tears shed, not only from me but from many audience members the night we attended the show. There was so much to this production, and I will get to that shortly.
Review: TROUBLE IN MIND at Cincinnati Shakespeare Company
by Ana-Brit Asplen
- May 26, 2023
Trouble in Mind made its Broadway premiere in 2021, 66 years after it was produced off-Broadway at Greenwich Mews Theatre. Cincinnati Shakespeare Company is known for its unique takes on classic stories and reviving them for a fresh audience, and this play is no exception. Known for its general themes of racism and sexism from a black perspective, the play eerily reflects a modern culture and language despite being written several decades ago. Manipulative tactics are used strategically by the characters, performative allyships are shattered, and false dignity is stripped for raw truth.
Review: CENSTACOM's LITTLE WOMEN Showcased the Community's Heart and Talent
by Rakaputra Paputungan
- Jan 24, 2023
What did our critic think of LITTLE WOMEN at SALIHARA? CENSTACOM (Center Stage Community) is a relatively new performing arts community, having started in 2019. Even so, their output is striking: six shows in three years featuring up-and-coming performers and a variety of show tunes. On January 20-21, 2023, CENSTACOM hit another milestone with their first full-length production of LITTLE WOMEN, licensed through Music Theatre International.
Review: LITTLE WOMEN at First Folio Theatre, Oak Brook IL
by Tina St. Angelo Wetzel
- Dec 19, 2022
What did our critic think of LITTLE WOMEN at First Folio Theatre, Oak Brook IL? The current production at First Folio Theatre in Oak Brook is an adaptation of Louisa May Alcott's classic coming of age story during the Civil War of the four March sisters - Little Women. Most of us of a certain age read this book more than once. There are at least 4 film versions including the original (and in my opinion - the best) from 1933 starring Katharine Hepburn as Jo.
Review: LITTLE WOMEN: THE BROADWAY MUSICAL
by Nancy Grossman
- Dec 1, 2022
Have there ever been such devoted sisters as the four March girls, birthed by Louisa May Alcott in her postbellum semi-autobiographical novel LITTLE WOMEN? Director Ilyse Robbins shows her abiding affection for the story with her devotion to its heart and soul on display in the production of the 2005 Broadway Musical at Greater Boston Stage Company.
Review: Watershed Public Theatre's 'Nostalgic and Sentimental' LITTLE WOMEN THE MUSICAL
by Jeffrey Ellis
- Oct 8, 2022
With a stellar cast under the direction of Cammy Harris, Watershed Public Theatre’s version of Little Women The Musical ends its two-weekend run at Columbia State Community College’s Cherry Theatre on Sunday, October 9, with an endearing production that proves once more the timelessness of Alcott’s source material and the relevance of her memorable characters and provides an ideal diversion from the rigors of the real world of the 21st century.
