YoungArts, the national foundation for the advancement of artists, presents Home: Reimagining Interiority, a new group exhibition that explores the significant ways Black visual narratives respond to the dynamic cultural, political, social, economic and intimate changes that have forced us to (re)interrogate previous conceptions of Blackness and home.

Priya Darshini whose debut album ‘Periphery’, nominated for a GRAMMY in the Best New Age Music Category, was released in May 2020. Priya Darshini will now perform in concert music from Periphery live for the first time since its release, at a special album release concert at City Winery (The Loft) on July 30th, 7pm. 

The Center for Black Literature at Medgar Evers College, CUNY (CBL) will celebrate and  honor the lives and works of legendary writers Paule Marshall and John A. Williams at the 2021 National Black Writers Conference Biennial Symposium (NBWC2021). The one-day virtual event is titled They Cried  I Am: The Life and Work of Paule Marshall and John A. The Gates Preserve announces Write On! The Legend of Hip-Hop's Ink Slingers crowdfunding campaign, to complete and release the first documentary about the journalists that shaped and influenced hip-hop culture as we know it. The forthcoming documentary will journey from the beginning of hip-hop journalism to those writers that recognize themselves as hip-hop journalists now and the role the internet plays in documenting the culture. Write On! takes interviews with these and other key hip-hop juggernauts incorporating flashback film footage, archival photos, animation, and motion graphics to bring you on a journey into the minds and hearts of hip-hop's own music writers.

National YoungArts Foundation (YoungArts) President and CEO Carolina Garc a Jayaram announces details for the organization's 2018 regional programs in Miami, Los Angeles and New York. Spanning the country, YoungArts regional programs are modeled after National YoungArts Week, the organization's signature program held annually in Miami. This year, 757 YoungArts winners extraordinarily talented aspiring artists ages 15 18 or grades 10 12 from 47 states will have the opportunity to participate in classes led by master teachers such as Inna Faliks (1996 Winner in Classical Music), Marina Lomazov, Roger Bonair-Agard, Patricia Engel, Kimberly Browning, and more.
