THE SECRET GARDEN needs a good dose of Miracle-Gro to overcome a lack of vitality. A beautiful, lush score is weighed down by the sluggishness of the tale and static direction. The company has the vocals to do justice to the music and several performers shine, but this garden has a dearth of color.

Commonwealth Shakespeare Company (CSC) will debut Theatre In The Rough with a script-in-hand reading of William Shakespeare's Richard III featuring Jeffrey Donovan of USA's Burn Notice. The reading will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 (7pm) at Babson College's Sorenson Center for the Arts, 231 Forest St, Park Manor South, Wellesley, MA. The reading is free and open to the public. A $50 per person donation includes VIP seating for the reading and admission to a private reception (10pm) with the cast at the Glavin Family Chapel at Babson College. Space is limited.
