Santa Cruz County Actors’ Theatre returns to live performances after nearly two years of closure due to the pandemic. The 26th Annual 8 Tens @ 8 Short Play Festival opens January 14 and plays through February 6, at the Center Stage Theater in downtown Santa Cruz.

The cast has been announced for Punchy! The Musical, a brand new musical at The Courtyard Theatre. This raucous, affecting piece of gig-theatre brings the soulful sounds of the 1950s to the heart of Hoxton. Robert Hook (Peaky Blinders, BBC; The Milkman's on His Way) will take on the lead role of the wayward and conflicted George 'Punchy' Armstrong.

This Spotlight focuses on Brandon Ferruccio, who started out an as actor only to discover his real passion was to direct plays, especially with all female casts or with a strong feminine lead character. He has directed many productions at Theatre Palisades, Westminster Playhouse, Whittier Community Theatre, The Warner Grand in San Pedro, El Camino College, and the James Armstrong Studio Theatre in Torrance. And soon he will be adding the Westchester Playhouse to the list of theaters in which he has directed productions.

When 27-year old Jocelyn Argueta was working her way through college, studying Biochemistry at the University of California, Irvine, she filled her little free time working and performing with Phantom Projects Theatre Group in La Mirada. As an older teen, she starred in shows confronting teen-oriented life topics such as bullying and racism. As a young adult she joined their tour of Charlotte's Web, where she portrayed colorful farmyard animals such as geese and pigs, all the while spending countless hours in the on-campus labs of UCI. Upon graduating with a degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Jocelyn's early career was founded in scientific research. She contributed with published work in the field of Neuroscience and as an inventor in allergy diagnostics.
