Broadway Advocacy Coalition? and Columbia Law School? announce the participants in their collaborative course entitled: The Theater of Change: Building the Capacity for Impact through Artistry, Law, and Activism.

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and Georgetown University celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a free, ticketed musical tribute titled Let Freedom Ring!

Xiuhtezcatl (pronounced Shoe-Tez-Caht), young and progressive hip-hop artist, made it into the public eye as an activist speaking out on critical issues including climate change and Indigenous rights. He also performed and supported the Standing Rock movement. When he first started to write bars, he initially meant them to be a creative outlet for his activism.  Xiuhtezcatl recalls “I saw this album serving as a call to action for the world. Calling my generation to overcome the limitations and boundaries our broken world has placed on us. Calling on our communities to break free from the oppression and injustice that we face.” But as the album and tracks progressed the artistic process took hold, and became less about his work as an activist, and more of a reflection of Xiuhtezcatl's growth and self-discovery as a young man and an artist. Xiuhtezcatl drops his powerful debut album, Break Free, out now and available everywhere.

"Send Me on My Way"… to Hey Nonny for some killer performances! The newest live music destination and gastropub in Chicagoland, Hey Nonny, 10 S. Vail Ave, proudly adds three amazing acts to its November lineup. Front man for the multi-platinum group Rusted Root, Michael Glabicki, is set to rock out with Dirk Miller, the band's guitarist, at 8:30 p.m. on November 9. Chicago native and internationally-loved musician David Davis hits the Hey Nonny stage for his hometown album release concert at 8:30 p.m. on November 16. On Saturday, November 17 at 8:00 p.m., Chicago favorite JC Brooks Band will bring down the house.

City Winery Chicago has announced that Katharine McPhee will perform on Monday, November 5th. City Winery also announced many other shows, including its annual 10,000 Maniacs Valentine's run. Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter JD Souther brings an intimate concert experience to Pepperdine University's Smothers Theatre in Malibu on Sunday, October 14 at 7 p.m.

Drury Lane Theatre announces casting for the first production of its 2018/2019 season, the Tony Award-winning musical South Pacific, with music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, book by Oscar Hammerstein II and Josh Logan, and adapted from Tales of the South Pacific by James Michener. This production is directed by Victor Malana Maog with choreography by Otis Sallid and musical direction by Roberta Duchak. South Pacific runs April 5 - June 17, 2018, at Drury Lane Theatre, 100 Drury Lane in Oakbrook Terrace. The press opening is scheduled for Thursday, April 12 at 8:00 p.m.

On Friday, April 20, Flushing Town Hall resumes its popular Global Mashups series with Global Mashups #1: Latin Boogaloo Meets Afrobeat. Each season, musical artists from across the globe present - and then unite - their melodies in one-of-a-kind performances that are emblematic of Flushing Town Hall's mission to provide global music to a global community.

Artistic Director Mark Yonally and Chicago Tap Theatre (CTT) presents Sweet Tap Chicago Sunday, March 11 at 3 and 7 p.m. at The City Winery, 1200 W. Randolph St. Sweet Tap Chicago is a celebration of Chicago musicians and music, with all new arrangements by Kurt Schweitz, a live jazz quintet featuring rapper/singer/host Taylor Mallory and JC Brooks and tap dancing.

The GRAMMY Awards Premiere Ceremony will take place at The Theater at Madison Square Garden on Sunday, Jan. 28, 2018, from 3 6 p.m. ET and will be streamed live internationally via GRAMMY.com/live and CBS.com.

November programming has been announced at City Winery Chicago. Highlights of the month include multi-night runs from Jazz vocalist (and Chicago transplant) Lizz Wright (Nov. 1-2), Herb Alpert of Tijuana Brass with his wife, Grammy-winning singer Lani Hall, (Nov. 6-7), and four shows over two days with saxophonist Kurt Elling (Nov. 25-26) plus a benefit for Merit School of Music with Nico Segal (previously known as Donnie Trumpet from the Chance the Rapper-affiliated band, The Social Experiment) and The JuJu Exchange (Nov. 28) and much more.

Last Poet Standing IV (LPS) returns to the Aronoff Center! Last Poet Standing IV is a head-to-head spoken word competition which will be featured as a part of the tenth season of the Off-Broadway Theatrical Revue The Signature: A Poetic Medley Show. This 'Unorthodox SPOKEN WORD Competition' has brought the best performing artists across the Midwest to the stage! Last Poet Standing IV has a large individual grand prize of $1,000, and this summer OFP Productions will collaborate with several organizations to present LPS in the Aronoff Center's intimate and beautiful Jarson-Kaplan Theater in downtown Cincinnati at 650 Walnut Street on Friday, August 25 from 8:00 PM-11:00 PM. The Signature Lounge opens in the lobby at 7:30 PM, featuring live music and a full bar.
