On Today, October 5, 2017, WHITE WAVE Dance celebrates its 17th Anniversary season of the DUMBO Dance Festival (DDF) with a Gala Opening that heralds the most anticipated four-day festival of contemporary dance in the greater New York City region.

The Dance Gallery Festival will return for their 11th annual New York performance showcase, Friday, November 3, at Gelsey Kirkland Arts Center, 29 Jay St. in Brooklyn, and on November 4-5 at the Ailey Citigroup Theater, 405 W 55th Street, NYC with 25 artists in a weekend of groundbreaking work performed in three distinct and separate programs.

Committed to further developing dance as an important art form, WHITE WAVE scours the globe in search of the most innovative of today's dance makers, both emerging and established, and brings them to Brooklyn for one extended weekend!

On Thursday, October 5, 2017, WHITE WAVE Dance celebrates our 17th Anniversary season of the DUMBO Dance Festival (DDF) with a Gala Opening that heralds the most anticipated four-day festival of contemporary dance in the greater New York City region.

The Museum of Performance + Design was awarded an NEA/Art Works 2017 grant to digitize, catalog, and make available online for broad public access by June 2018 dance images from the HENRIETTA MCDOWELL, CHESTER KESSLER, BOB MCLOED, and KATHERINE KAHRS photographic collections in The Elyse Eng Dance Collection at the Museum of Performance + Design. This project will preserve and provide open access to 2,500 images of dance performances in the San Francisco Bay Area from the 1940s to the 1990s, highlighting the unique holdings in the MP+D collection and the extensive and significant character of its dance photographs. MP+D is one of nine dance projects in San Francisco to be funded this year through the NEA's flagship grant program, Art Works.

Astrid von Ussar, Artistic Director of The Dance Gallery Festival, announced today the lineup for the Festival's 11th annual New York performance showcase, on Friday, November 3 at Gelsey Kirkland Arts Center, 29 Jay St in Brooklyn, and on November 4-5 at the Ailey Citigroup Theater, 405 W 55th Street, NYC.

Los Angeles Performance Practice (LAPP) curates No Side Now, an evening of new experimental dance, presented by Grand Performances as part of its free summer concert series in Downtown Los Angeles. Four L.A. based choreographers celebrate dance's capacity to deflect, refract and repurpose a viewer's presumptions in works that abandon boundaries and blur binaries. Featuring Milka Djordjevich, d. Sabela grimes, Amy O'Neal and Micaela Taylor, the performance takes place at 8p on Friday, August 4, 2017. Like all Grand Performances events, the program is free to all.

PROTOTYPE: Opera/Theatre/Now invigorates New York City January 7-20, 2018, with the sixth annual showcase of progressive opera and music-theatre, curated by co-founding directors Kristin Marting (of HERE), Beth Morrison (of Beth Morrison Projects) and Kim Whitener (of HERE), along with newly appointed co-director Jecca Barry (of Beth Morrison Projects). Since its launch in 2013, the Prototype Festival has presented a phenomenal 32 new works across five seasons, propelling the industry forward as a first-rate presenter and influencer.

LUMBERYARD Contemporary Performing Arts will present the feath3r theory in: Another f**king Warhol Production, or Who's Afraid of Andy Warhol?, a new work from Raja Feather Kelly and his company the feath3r theory, June 22-24 at The Kitchen as part of the second annual LUMBERYARD in the City festival.

Vanessa Long Dance Company are proud to present to you the release of a new piece of emotional dance theatre; 'Green Apples'. The company states 'We believe that in order to see change in our world, we need to encourage conversations. Our pieces are highly theatrical and all tell a story that illustrates the problem set before us.'

The School Of American Ballet (SAB) held it's annual alumni cocktail reception on June 2, 2017. The SAB event was held at it's Lincoln Center location and was attended by many of it's illustrious alumni.  SAB is one of the most famous classical ballet schools in the world and is the school of George Balanchine's New York City Ballet, a leading international ballet company based at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York City. The school trains students from the age of six, with professional vocational ballet training for students aged 11-18.

Periapsis Music and Dance presents NOESIS, a new work by resident choreographer Hannah Weber and composer Jonathan Howard Katz, on June 3 at 8:00 pm and June 4 and 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm at GK ArtsCenter (aka Gelsey Kirkland Academy), 29 Jay Street, Brooklyn. 

Today, Gelsey Kirkland Ballet announced the company will be cancelling its upcoming program, Russian Treasures, due to several injuries within the company. Russian Treasures was slated to be the third program of the company's 2016/2017 season, featuring Marius Petipa's hilarious one-act comedy Cavalry Halt, as well as pieces by Leonid Yakobson, Leonid Lavrovsky, and Kasyan Goleizovsky. 

WARNER BROS. presents BUGS BUNNY AT THE SYMPHONY II -a spectacular fusion of classical music and classic animation that celebrates the world's most famous and beloved cartoons and their equally famous music-with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, June 3-4 in Newark and New Brunswick. Conducted by Emmy Award-winner George Daugherty, and created and produced by Daugherty and Emmy Award-winning producer David Ka Lik Wong, the production is a celebration of the world's favorite Warner Bros. Looney Tunes characters on-screen with live full symphony orchestra accompaniment.

Continuing this tradition, Gelsey Kirkland Ballet announced today the next program of its 2016/2017 season will be Russian Treasures featuring Marius Petipa's hilarious one-act comedy Cavalry Halt, as well as pieces by Leonid Yakobson, Leonid Lavrovsky, and Kasyan Goleizovsky.

Choreographer Miro Magloire presents his New Chamber Ballet in the world premiere of a work to Mozart, joined by repertory  ballets to music by Ryan Brown, Friedrich Cerha, and Luciano Berio, April 7 & 8, 8 PM, at City Center Studio 5, 130 West 56th Street.
