The story begins when a near-fatal accident leaves the heroine’s new husband paralyzed. In his anguish, he implores her to take other lovers. She follows her faith to a tragic end.

San Francisco Opera's weekly, free opera streams continue in April with Donizetti's Don Pasquale (April 3–4), The Fall of the House of Usher double bill featuring one-act operas by Gordon Getty and Claude Debussy (April 10–11) and Verdi's Don Carlo (April 17–18).

Opera Santa Barbara is excited to return to live productions with Don Pasquale, A Live Drive-In Opera, as the season opener for Concerts In Your Car at the Ventura County Fairgrounds. The New National Theatre Tokyo has announced two new operas to its streaming schedule. From May 15 through May 22, audiences can view Donizetti's a?oeDon Pasquale.' From May 22 through May 29, audiences can check out Akira Nishimura and Mikiro Sasaki's a?oeAsters.a?? 

San Francisco Opera announced today that it will stream performances from its archives beginning Saturday, May 9, with Arrigo Boito's Mefistofele. Each streamed opera will be presented on Saturdays at 10 am Pacific time at sfopera.com and remain available until midnight the following day.

KC Lyric's production a bel canto treat

On Saturday evening February 22, 2020, Los Angeles Opera presented a vocally glorious rendition of Gaetano Donizetti's Bel Canto opera Roberto Devereux. Roberto was one of the loves of England's Elizabeth I, so the opera is centered around their relationship and Roberto's forbidden love for Sara, the wife of the Duke of Nottingham.

The 86th year of the U.K.'s internationally renowned Glyndebourne Festival will offer six major opera productions from May 21 through August 30, including compelling new productions, rising stars and debuts, and the return of treasured Festival favorites, as well as an exceptional international roster of artists from more than 14 different countries from the United States, Australia and Russia to Finland and Croatia.
