Boston Lyric Opera's (BLO) production of The Rake's Progress, which opens March 12 for a four-performance run at Emerson/Cutler Majestic Theatre, brings to life the traditional story of a young man seduced by monetary and carnal pleasures at the hand of a devilish valet.  The work hasn't been presented in a fully staged professional production since BLO produced it in 1987.  A professional concert version and several conservatories have been staged, but productions in Boston are infrequent.

Katie Rosie Clarke (as Ellen) and Nicholas Christopher (as John) are the latest additions to the the cast of Cameron Mackintosh's acclaimed new production of Boublil and Schonberg's legendary musical MISS SAIGON, which begins performances Wednesday, March 1 at The Broadway Theatre (1681 Broadway). Directed by Laurence Connor (LES MISERABLES, School of Rock), the Broadway return of MISS SAIGON will feature its American stars, Jon Jon Briones as The Engineer and 20-year-old Eva Noblezada as Kim, who created their roles in the West End to great acclaim. Rachelle Ann Goand Devin Ilaw have also recently joined the cast, as Gigi and Thuy. The lead male role of Chris will be announced later this month. Opening night for MISS SAIGON will be Thursday, March 23. MISS SAIGON will play a limited engagement throughJanuary 14, 2018 before launching a North American tour later in the year.

Adapt another fabled story about three pigs; stir vigorously with the motifs of the American Southwest; enliven with a melange of hip Broadway-style songs with a dash of regional flavoring; and energize with as electric an ensemble as you can find ~ and there you have it: The Three Javelinas, a delightful upbeat story about finding one's place in the (desert) sun.

On March 16, 2015, the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle announced its winners and special awards for excellence in Los Angeles, Orange, and Ventura County theater in the year 2014. Announcements were made at a ceremony held at the Beyond the Stars Palace in Glendale, hosted by Dixie Longate (Dixie's Tupperware Party) with musical direction by Corey B. The Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle has announced its nominations and special awards for excellence in Los Angeles and Orange County theatre for the year 2014 (Dec. 1, 2013 - Nov. 30, 2014).
