This August, The Joyce Theater will present Ballet v6.0, a remarkable festival designed to recognize dancers and choreographers who are creating work outside the traditional large company setting and are forming their own small companies. From August 6 - 17, some of the country's most exciting young dance companies whose works represents a range of ballet styles from neo classical to contemporary, will be presented as part of this festival at The Joyce. They are BalletX, Dominic Walsh Dance Theater, Company C Contemporary Ballet, Whim W'Him, BalletCollective and Jessica Lang Dance. Dance/Up, the local service organization dedicated to the regional dance community, announced the successful arrival of an innovative new portable Dance Deck. Funded in part with a grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation as part of its Knight Art Challenge, the Dance Deck will be available for dance companies and dance producers around the region. Designed by the Wooden Kiwi design firm in Boston, the new innovative Dance Deck is weather-proof, inexpensive, and able to accommodate the demanding physical needs of professional dance.
