Dancewave, a Brooklyn-based dance education nonprofit organization, hosts the annual Dancing Through College & Beyond (DTCB) event on October 13th and 14th at Hunter College. The comprehensive two-day event provides students and families with information, connections, auditions and inspiration for the college process and their future as the next generation of dancers. The increasingly popular event is currently sold out, with limited opportunities to attend portions of the event open to the public.

Baryshnikov Arts Center (BAC) will host its annual benefit to support BAC's programs on Monday, October 1, 2018, in the Jerome Robbins Theater and Howard Gilman Performance Space (450 W. 37th Street, Manhattan).

DANCE NOW announces the lineup for the 2018 Festival ENCORE! The one-night-only performance will feature the 10 choreographers/companies selected by the DANCE NOW producers for having most successfully met the DANCE NOW Challenge: to create a clear and complete artistic statement in five minutes or less for the specifics of the stage at Joe's Pub.

The festival emcee is TruDee (aka Deborah Lohse). The 2018 festival will take place Wednesday to Saturday, September 5-8, at 7pm, at Joe's Pub at The Public. A special encore performance will be presented on Thursday, September 27, at 7pm.

The 2018 Dance-mopolitan Artist Series, produced by DANCE NOW, presents Megan Williams Dance Projects in ONE WOMAN SHOW, a post-postmodern dance theater follies for the small stage. Megan Williams finds the roots of her aesthetic DNA in the proto-feminist female archetypes of 30s, 40s and 50s Hollywood and uses them as a lens to view the experience of the 21st-century woman-of a-certain-age. Part memoir, part spectacle, ONE WOMAN SHOW aims to grab the moment and hold on tight. The work features celebrated dance artists Esme Boyce, Robert Mark Burke, Derek Crescenti, Dylan Crossman, John Eirich, Kristen Foote, Chelsea Hecht, Courtney Lopes, and Megan Williams. With costume design by Barbara Erin Delo and sound design by Sam Crawford.

ast night, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater's holiday season at New York City Center kicked off with a star-studded Opening Night Gala Benefit performance and party that honored Ailey Board President Debra L. Lee (Chairman and Chief Executive Office of BET Networks) for her support of the Ailey organization since 2002. Music and film stars Queen Latifah andJanelle Mon e served as honorary chairs for the evening, and the gala co-chairs were Deedra & Bob Bakish, Emily & Len Blavatnik, Paulette & Howard Bradnock, Daria L. & Eric J. Wallach, and Joan & Sandy Weill. Over $2.4 million was raised in support of the creation of new works, scholarships to The Ailey School, and Ailey's extensive educational programs for young people.

Brown brings two influential works as part of her dance trilogy about culture, race, and identity BLACK GIRL: Linguistic Play on December 1 and the world premiere Kennedy Center co-commission of ink on December 2 to the Eisenhower stage. Both performed to original live music, each full-evening production celebrates diversity, community, history, and the exploration of finding oneself.

The Chase Brock Experience, the Brooklyn-based contemporary dance company now celebrating its 10th season, is excited to begin performances for their two-week engagement, tonight, Monday, November 27. The gala honors Ailey Board President Debra L. Lee (Chairman and Chief Executive Office of BET Networks) for her commitment to the advancement of arts and culture and her dedication to the organization, which has helped steer Ailey to success since she joined the board in 2002. Honorary chairs for the evening are music and film stars Queen Latifah and Janelle Mon e.
