Pioneer Theatre Company has announced its 2010-11 season, which will include an eighth 'add-on' production of the electrifying pop-rock opera RENT, the winner of both the Tony Award for Best Musical and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1996.

The Civilians' Artistic Director Steve Cosson ('This Beautiful City'), composer Michael Friedman ('This Beautiful City,' 'Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson') and book writer Bess Wohl ('Cats Talk Back,' 'In') have begun investigations in Los Angeles for an untitled porn musical. The new project from the award-winning investigative theatre company is commissioned by Center Theatre Group, which presented The Civilians' 'This Beautiful City' at the Kirk Douglas Theatre in 2008.

The third offering on Vassar & New York Stage and Film's Powerhouse Theater Mainstage this season will be Keith Bunin's funny, sexy, romantic, and moving story Vera Laughed, about a great writer living in exile - with his wife and his mistress. Vera Laughed will open on Wednesday, July 22, and run through Sunday, August 2, at the Powerhouse Theater on the Vassar College campus.

Northlight Theatre's 33rd Season and Artistic Director BJ Jones' 10th Anniversary Season broke attendance and box office records, surpassed all revenue and fundraising goals and celebrated its first-ever international production with Better Late at the Galway Arts Festival. The theatre is well-poised to kick-off its season in September with its 5-play season and Interplay, its staged reading series of new plays.

TheatreWorks continues its commitment to the creation and development of new works with the 2008 New Works Festival. The seventh annual Festival, April 12-20, features staged readings of two new musicals, GIRLFRIEND, a bittersweet pop musical from Todd Almond and singer/songwriter Matthew Sweet, and UNLOCK'D, a musical fantasy from Sam Carner and Derek Gregor, based on Alexander Pope's The Rape of the Lock, and two new plays, TOUCH(ED) from playwright and actress Bess Wohl, and Joe DiPietro's fascinating political drama CREATING CLAIRE.
