Parity Productions, the New York based theatre company dedicated to producing new work and filling at least 50% of the creative positions (playwrights, directors, and designers) with women and/or trans and gender nonconforming (TCNG) artists, opened Charlie's Waiting by Inaugural Parity Commission Winner Melisa Annis on March 31 at Theaterlab (357 W 36th St, New York, NY 10018) hosted by TLab Shares. Charlie's Waiting is playing an extended run of 21 performances now through April 20. The cast is led by Tony nominee Xanthe Elbrick (Broadway: Coram Boy, Candida), and features Stephanie Heitman (A Snowfall in Berlin), and Amy Scanlon (Balladeers Play to the Moon) and is directed by Parity Productions Artistic Director, Ludovica Villar Hauser. 

LAGUNA PLAYHOUSE presents a co-production with the Rubicon Theatre Company, HEISENBERG, written by Simon Stephens (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time) directed by Katherine Farmer (South Pacific, Gulf View Drive) and starring Faline England (Valentine's Day) & Joe Spano (Hill Street Blues and NCIS).

Katharine Farmer directs Lin Blakely (Eastenders/ Silent Witness) as Bea, Michael Brandon (Episodes/Jerry Springer the Opera) as Jorgy, Amy Burke (Serial Thriller) as Kate, Rob Locke (NCIS, General Hospital) as Larry and Mark Rose (True West) as Coles in a timely revival of Jerry Sterner's darkly comic Off-Broadway hit, Other People's Money at Southwark Playhouse. Written in 1989, Other People's Money is a funny, fast-paced and provocative comment on the greed and excess of the 1980s.

xWashington Stage Guild in its time has accomplished a number of serialized works over the years, including just about all of Shaw. But few have been so optimally presented as the Arlene Hutton trilogy that ends with the current 'Gulf View Drive.'

The Washington Stage Guild presents the third and final play in Arlene Hutton's romantic trilogy portraying married life in the mid-20th Century. Gulf View Drive explores the lives of Raleigh and May Brummett, who met by chance during World War II, married in haste and faced the challenges of finding their own way. It is now 1953 and Raleigh's published stories have gained success. But success brings new challenges as both mothers-in-law and a sister descend on the couple. Along the way, each adjusts to the meaning of family life in his or her own way and faces an America beginning to confront its racial divide. The play opens on Thursday, January 17 and will run through Sunday, February 10, 2019. Press performance will be on Sunday, January 20 at 2:30 pm. A special talkback with playwright Arlene Hutton is scheduled immediately following this performance.

Playing On Air announced today the three winners of the inaugural James Stevenson Prize for comedic short plays. First Prize ($7,500, plus a Playing On Air recording for radio and podcast distribution) has been awarded to Hate Baby by Gracie Gardner. (Gardner is also the winner of the 2017 Relentless Award and author of the New York Times Critic's Pick Athena.) Second Prize ($2,000) has been awarded to Hedgehog Years by Lily Akerman. Third Prize ($1,000) has been awarded to Horse Latitudes (Who Wants to be an Equine Extra?) by Elizabeth Logun.

The New York International Fringe Festival's production of Jane Elias's solo play, Do This One Thing for Me, directed by Tracy Bersley, opens on Sunday, October 14, and runs through October 27.

FringeNYC, the adjudicated portion of the new NEW YORK INTERNATIONAL FRINGE FESTIVAL, begins performances tomorrow, October 12, 2018. The festival will offer 80 fully staged theater and dance productions at 10 venues in Manhattan;s West Village all centered around a new FringeHUB. Patrons for all performances begin their FringeNYC experience at the FringeHUB at 685 Washington Street (corner of Charles Street) and are ushered to their venue. As part of the 2018 New York International Fringe Festival, Schondeikkan Productions, LLC, in association with The Journey Company, presents the world premiere of One Christmas Eve by Lynne Halliday, James Hindman, Arlene Hutton and Craig Pospisil, with music by Gretchen Cryer. The production will be directed by 5-time Daytime Emmy Award-winner ("All My Children" "As the World Turns") Chris Goutman.
