In PASSOVER, Tron Montgomery plays Moses, while Lance Felton and Joshua Dupree play Kitch. Michael Menszycki portrays both Mister and Ossifer.

My friends, we have finally done it. In just a couple of weeks from now, we will be leaving behind the mess of a year that was 2021 and going into the hopefully bright future of 2022. Let's take a trip back through 2021 and talk about some of my favorite theater moments we experienced this year, from next-level movie musicals to the re-opening of Broadway.

Ars Nova will honor writers Antoinette Chinonye Nwandu (Pass Over) and Steven Levenson (Dear Evan Hansen, FX’s Fosse/Verdon, Netflix’s tick, tick…boom!), at Nova Ball, Ars Nova’s annual benefit.

CAA Amplify, Broadway Advocacy Coalition, and The Movement Theatre Company co-hosted a celebration of this fall’s eight Black playwrights on Broadway. The event was held on Monday, December 6th at the Paradise Room at The Times Square EDITION. 

Carrie Coon reprises her performance as Agnes in Bug. She can also be seen in movie theaters in Jason Reitman’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife, named the #1 movie in America. Coon, who has been celebrated for her TV roles in The Leftovers and Fargo, joins a new TV series—Julian Fellowes’ highly anticipated The Gilded Age premiering on HBO in January 2022.

Steppenwolf Theatre Company will welcome audiences back for in-person performances for the first time in 20 months with its acclaimed and extraordinary revival of Bug by Pulitzer Prize and Tony award-winning ensemble member Tracy Letts, in the Downstairs Theater November 11 – December 12, 2021 (opening November 14).

Lincoln Center Theater (under the direction of André Bishop) has announced that it will produce Thornton Wilder’s Pulitzer Prize-winning THE SKIN OF OUR TEETH this spring at the Vivian Beaumont Theater (150 West 65 Street). 

As part of their free virtual salon series, Wingspace Theatrical Design will present a conversation with members of the PASS OVER Production Team: production manager Sean Gorski, COVID safety manager Pamela Remler and set designer Wilson Chin, moderated by assistant set designer Riw Rakkulchon.

Tickets will go on sale this Sunday, September 19 for Lincoln Center Theater’s production of INTIMATE APPAREL, a new opera with music by Ricky Ian Gordon and a libretto by Lynn Nottage, based on her critically acclaimed play.

Pass Over is not the Broadway of yesteryear. This is a new Broadway, both glistening and openly revealing darkness underneath. It is not complacent, uncritical, or simply nostalgic. Perhaps we have finally said goodbye to one incarnation of the Great White Way, and here Pass Over ushers in the next era, baptizing Broadway anew.

Noting that the health and safety of its audiences, performers, staff, and volunteers are a top priority, Marin Theatre Company announced today the postponement of the opening of its 2021­­–2022 season until November 2021.

Tickets will be sold at the BO only, starting at 10 am on the day of the performance, and will be available until the box office has sold 30 tickets. Two tickets are allowed to be purchased per person, first come, first served. Tickets are $32.50 + $2.50 per ticket.
