After 15 years Horse Trade Theater Group is sad to announce that they will no longer be operating out of The Red Room, a 32-seat theater located on the third floor of 85 East 4th Street. The landlord has decided to repurpose the space, and it will no longer be a performing arts venue. Horse Trade will be searching for a new third venue, and in the meantime will continue to operate out of The Kraine Theater at 85 East 4th Street and UNDER St. Marks at 94 St. Marks Place, for the foreseeable future. Horse Trade couldn't let The Red Room go without a proper send-off! So the month of March will be full of special events in The Red Room, as they say goodbye to a beloved East Village staple.

Off-Broadway's acclaimed DR2 Kids Theatre continued its partnership with Theatreworks USA -- the nation's leading not-for-profit professional theatre for young audiences and present 'Rabbit Season' at the DR2 Kids Theatre!, which kicked off yesterday, February 10, 2013. BUNNICULA: A Rabbit Tale of Musical Mystery, features a book by legendary New York playwright and Tony Award nominee Charles Busch (The Tale of the Allergist's Wife), music by Sam Davis and lyrics by Drama Desk nominee Mark Waldrop (When Pigs Fly). With baseball season in full swing, NATIONAL PASTIME, a new screwball musical comedy, makes its New York debut, beginning performances Off-Broadway tonight, August 8, 2012 at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater at Playwrights Horizons in Manhattan (416 West 42nd Street).

The last time the 1933 West End musical Nymph Errant was revived in New York, the Medicine Show Theatre Company advertised their production with the selling point that they haven't removed any of the show's racism.  Now, while going to see a racist musical is not exactly my idea of a fun night out, there is a certain historic value to watching older musicals performed with the texts the authors wrote, opposed to the frequent occurrence of slapping their books with labels like “creaky” or “dated” and having contemporary authors make wholesale revisions to transform them into suitable entertainments for modern audiences.

Tony Award winner Cady Huffman will play the roles of Ms. Pratt, Clarissa and Mrs. Bamberg in Prospect Theater Company's upcoming new production of Cole Porter's NYMPH ERRANT, featuring the original 1933 Porter score and a revised book by Rob Urbinati. Performances begin July 7 at the Clurman Theatre at Theatre Row.

Theatreworks USA, the nation's leading not-for-profit professional theatre for family audiences, hosts Tina Fey and Jeff Richmond as Opening Night Co-Chairs for its 22nd Annual Free Summer Theatre Program. This summer's featured production is the world premiere of the new musical WE THE PEOPLE: AMERICA ROCKS! Last night, July 14, the funny pair were on hand to celebrate the show's opening.
