The most popular act in the history of the McCallum Theatre, The TEN Tenors will return to Palm Desert just in time for Valentine’s Day, with a show featuring their greatest hits from the past 25 years. The TEN Tenors will perform seven shows, from Wednesday, Feb. 9, through Monday, Feb. 14.
The McCallum Theatre announced today its new lineup for the 2020-2021 season, with an exciting schedule of world-class artistry that has been the Theatre's hallmark for more than three decades. The new season includes an assortment of McCallum debuts, along with iconic superstars, long-awaited return visits from show business royalty, plus a robust comedy lineup and an impressive array of Broadway's most cherished, long-running shows.
The greatest French songs of the post-war years will be in the spotlight at the McCallum Theatre at 8:00pm, Friday, March 20, in Paris! The Show, made possible through the generosity of Charles and Nancy Nevil. After the success of Piaf! The Show, starring the internationally acclaimed Anne Carrere, producer and creator Gil Marsalla created a brand-new show, also starring Carrere, highlighting the best French music. This spectacular evening is a vibrant tribute to the greatest French songs of the post-war era, capturing the charm and essence of Paris.
Direct from the Apollo Theater, A Celebration of Ella Fitzgerald will bring singing greats Patti Austin, Kurt Elling, Monica Mancini, Wé McDonald and Ledisi to the McCallum Theatre for a fantastic night of music by one of the most revered vocalists of our time, at 8 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 29. Each performer embodies a different era of the jazz legend's life, intertwined with stories from her debut as a teenager at New York's Apollo Theater to the peak of her fame. The music highlights Ella's greatest hits, including a?oeA Tisket a Tasket,a?? 'Blues in the Night,a?? a?oeMiss Otis Regrets,a?? a?oeYou'll Have to Swing Ita?? and more. The show features the Ella All-Star Band with Shelly Berg, Nathan East, Brian Nova and Gregg Field.
Legends in Concert is the longest-running show in Las Vegas history, and after 35 years is still voted the No. 1 tribute show in the city. The internationally acclaimed and award-winning production is known as the pioneer of live tribute shows, and possesses the greatest collection of live tribute artists in the world. These incredible artists have pitch-perfect live vocals, signature choreography, and stunningly similar appearances to the legends they portray. The McCallum Theatre presents Legends in Concerta?"The Divas, featuring tributes to Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston and Aretha Franklin, for two shows: at 3:00pm and 8:00pm, Thursday, Feb. 27.
A McCallum Theatre holiday tradition, Colors of Christmas, returns on Friday, December 13, at 8:00pm with a new lineup of stars presenting a fantastic evening of holiday music and classics, backed up by a 12-piece band. This year's Colors of Christmas stars are Peabo Bryson, Oleta Adams, Ben Vereen and Jody Watley.
The Coachella Valley Symphony presents UNDER THE STREETLAMP on Saturday, April 27 at 7:00 pm at The McCallum Theatre in Palm Desert. Inspired by the classic hits of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, The Everly Brothers, The Beatles, Roy Orbison, The Beach Boys, Bobby Darin and others, UNDER THE STREETLAMP re-imagines the best music of the 50's, 60's, and 70's for today's audiences. I had the chance to catch up with one of the incredible singers, Brandon Wardell, to talk about his life and career and Under The Streetlamp as he prepares to head out to the desert, Here are a few experts from that conversation:
The McCallum Theatre announced today its new lineup for the 2019-2020 season, continuing to present the finest world-class artists and entertainers for Coachella Valley audiences. The new season includes McCallum debuts, returning favorites, iconic superstars, family-friendly entertainment and holiday cheer, among so much more. A CHRISTMAS STORY, WAITRESS and THE PLAY THAT GOES WORING are among the many Broadway offerings in what looks to be the most stellar season in McCallum history.
The McCallum Theatre presents Piaf! - The Show on Tuesday, March 26, at 8:00pm. With a million tickets sold in more than 50 countries and acclaimed reviews worldwide,Piaf! - The Show is a musical celebration of the life and music of the legendary French chanteuse Edith Piaf. Starring Anne Carrere, a young French performer hailed as "Edith Piaf's legitimate musical heiress," Piaf! - The Show narrates the rags-to-riches story of the Parisian singer's career through her unforgettable songs, complemented by a visual tapestry of previously unreleased photographs and images of famous locations of the Edith Piaf era.
The greatest family musical of all time, The Wizard of Oz, travels over the rainbow to Palm Desert for five performances at the McCallum Theatre. Performances are Friday, January 25, at 8:00pm; Saturday, January 26, at 2:00pm and 8:00pm, and Sunday, January 27, at 2:00pm and 7:30pm. This magical production is a celebration of the 1939 MGM movie, and will be presented with breathtaking special effects that will sweep audiences away, from the moment the tornado twists its way into Kansas. Nick Pearson plays the Cowardly Lion in this iteration. I had the chance to chat with Nick about all things 'Oz' and his personal trajectory that led him over the rainbow.
