Everyone who has ever thought that fairy tale endings are just a bit too sunny will enjoy this tuneful, sophisticated, ironic, and darkly funny send-up of Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, Rapunzel, and Red Riding Hood in which we learn to Be Careful the Things You Say, Children Will Listen. A Sondheim gem, the original Broadway production won the 1988 New York Drama Critics' Circle Award and the Drama Desk Award for Best Musical; as well as a Grammy award for the original cast recording.
