The Omaha Community Playhouse (OCP) production of The Color Purple opens today, Friday, March 4, 2022. The show will run in the Hawks Mainstage Theatre through March 27 with performances Wednesdays through Sundays. Tickets are on sale now starting at $25 with prices varying by performance. Based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Alice Walker and the Oscar® nominated film by Steven Spielberg, The Color Purple is an intimate coming-of-age story set in rural Georgia and told through a rich helping of jazz, ragtime, gospel and blues.
The Omaha Community Playhouse will offer free online streaming of entertainments by local composers J.Isaiah Smith, starting May 15, and Tim Vallier, starting May 22.

The Omaha Community Playhouse (OCP) held its annual Awards Night celebration on Monday, July 1 to honor those who volunteered as cast and crew in the 201819 season.
In 1975 E. L. Doctorow wrote an epic novel that encompassed racism, immigration, feminism, the unequal distribution of wealth, and the hope of 'The American Dream.' Terrence McNally took that story to the stage with music by Stephen Flaherty and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens. Omaha Community Playhouse reprises that monumental musical from its own memorable run 13 years ago on its stage.
Tony Award-winning musical Ragtime will open Friday, May 31 at the Omaha Community Playhouse (OCP). The show will run in the Hawks Mainstage Theatre from May 31 through June 30. Performances will be held Wednesdays through Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m.
