“When I am making a film, I am the audience.” – Martin Scorsese.

The legendary filmmaker has given us, the cinephiles, a wild ride in the genre of suspense and tension. The OG follows a theme of redemption, a thin line between evil and good, and self-discovery of guilt among others.

It all began in 1967 with Who’s That Knocking at My Door (formerly called I Call First). The movie was one of his many works that we got to cherish. From then on, we have a big list of his artistry that includes blockbuster films like The Irishman, Goodfellas, and The Wolf of Wall Street.

The list of his work his huge that it may leave you fussing about what to watch while you are snuggled up in your soft furry blanket. To save you from that hassle we have written this article to give you only the best movies directed by the master Martin Scorsese.

Before we dive headfirst into the movies, make sure to watch them in high-res to uplift your experience through a stable internet connection. On such an account, Windstream Internet takes the edge with its fiber-powered internet connection, flexible plans, and reliable customer service.

Now, without further ado, let’s dive right into them. You won’t go wrong with any of the listed movies below.

The Wolf of Wall Street

Released in 2013, The Wolf of Wall Street follows the real-life story of a guy named Jordan Belfort.

The chosen one to portray the character was no other than one of Scorsese’s favorite cast members Leonardo Di Caprio. And oh man! How great Leo was in adapting the Jordan Belfort character that the guy himself says that he has portrayed me in Wall Street better than myself.

Jordan was a stockbroker in Wall Street, who because of greed gets into manipulating people to spend their hard-earned money only to realize later that they have been scammed by the guy.

The theme of the movie is the same as the one in Casino or Goodfellas: the rise and fall of the character.

Jordan Belfort in real life and on the big screen earns millions of dollars through the flawed American system. He ends up the same as he starts because he got under the radar of the fed and gets himself and his team busted.

The movie is fun to watch, unlike the other Scorsese’s movies.

The Aviator

The story of an airline grandee and a filmmaker named Howard Hughes graced the cinema in 2004.

The protagonist of the movie Hughes is played again, of course, by Leonardo Di Caprio. Not just Leo was the eye-catching actor in the movie but the other cast members like Cate Blanchett as Katharine Hepburn, and John Christopher Reilly as Noah Dietrich added glitter to the already shining masterpiece.

The movie transitioned Leonardo from a young teenager to a big-name actor in the cabinet of Hollywood. Martin’s role is key in this matter as he had chosen him back-to-back for Gangs of New York, The Aviator, and then The Departed.

The highlighting scene of the movie was when Hughes emergency lands a two-seater airplane in Beverly Hills, California, shredding through the roofs of some houses and then eventually getting set on fire after an explosion.

The movie is one of the best works by Martin Scorsese.

The Irishman

The movie was released in 2019 but the bigwig director, writer, and producer started working on the project in 2004. The movie couldn’t see the face of the cinema until the over-the-top streaming service Netflix splashed big $159 million on the movie.

The story revolves around crime figures like Frank Sheeran, the Bufalino family, and Jimmy Hoffa.

A story that was already famous from the north to the south in the US. And when it was coupled with the story-telling by Scorsese, it came out marvelous.

The movie has the biggest name you can imagine (rationally) in a movie: Robert De Niro as Frank Sheeran, Joe Pesci as Russell Bufalino, and Al Pacino as Jimmy Hoffa among others.

The movie is a perfect choice for people who love the crime genre.

Goodfellas

Goodfellas, in our books, is the best work by Martin Scorsese that was released in 1990.

The movie is in direct comparison with another crime trilogy The Godfather, for the top spot of the best movie in the crime genre.

The movie follows the rise of Henry Hill and then the fall in a fascinating way. Not to forget the movie is an adaptation of a book named Wiseguy written by Nicholas Pillegi.

The cast of the movie includes Ray Liotta as Henry Hill, Robert De Niro as the James Conway, Joe Pesci as the Tommy DeVito (a silly funny character) that won him the Academy Award for the best supporting actor, Paul Sorvino as Paul Cicero, and Lorraine Bracco as the Karen Hill among others.

The movie is the one to watch if you haven’t watched that already.
