New York City choreographer Lane Gifford unites six collaborative voices for a new work, “Rush / Movement, Music, Momentum”. This work will premiere on Sunday, March 19th at 28th Street Theater as part of the 2023 Spark Theatre Festival.
Six original voices collaborate in this movement musical event. Together the artists interweave their ideas about how and where to search for sustainability amidst moments of pandemonium during one vibrant theatrical performance. This slick new production features dynamic dance, music, and a dramatic view of our current landscape.
Collaborators for this project include; artistic director of LaneCoArts, Lane Gifford, Grammy-award winning saxophonist, performer, and composer, Johnny Butler, choreographer and dancer, Caleb Patterson, composer, musician, and performer, Jordan Mordechai, choreographer and performer, Faustine Lavie, and artistic director of Terre Collective, Robert Rubama.
This work will feature dancers from LaneCoArts, Emily Aslin, Dominique Dobransky, and Richard Samaya. Dancers from Terre Collective, Alyssa Meyers and Marina Vianello. As well as dancers Caleb Patterson, Annie White, Beatriz Castro, and Faustine Lavie Dance Project Dancers, Isaac Kerr, Mayu Nakaya, Tsubasa Nishioka, Annie White.
Lane Gifford united these artists and is pleased to collaborate in an interdisciplinary arts setting. These collaborators bring their perspectives together to explore various facets of sustainability in the face of our chaotic reality.

Lane Gifford
After attending Purchase College Conservatory of Dance (BFA and MFA), Lane Gifford (choreographer) founded LaneCoArts in 2006. Her multi-arts view of dance grew from early experiences living/working in Paris as a dancer and developed as both visual artist and choreographer here in New York City. Performances include: Jacob's Pillow, NY International Fringe Festival, Baruch PAC, Triskelion Arts, Le Poisson Rouge, 92nd St. Y, Dance Place/Washington D.C., Spring To Dance Festival/St. Louis, MO, and Bryant Park/NYC. As an educator, Lane Gifford has worked in the NYC, Queens and Brooklyn public school systems and has had residencies with University of Kansas, Southern Utah University, Missouri Valley College, and Joffrey Ballet School.
Johnny Butler
Johnny Butler is a Grammy-award winning musician and arranger for his work on Beyoncé’s "Love on Top'' and a Lucille Lortell Award winning performer and orchestrator on Heather Christian's Oratorio for Living Things. He received a BM from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music where he studied Jazz Performance and Classical Composition and completed an individualized masters in “Music, Sound, and Meaning” from New York University Gallatin.
Caleb Patterson
Caleb began professional training in 2014 at The Joffrey Ballet School where he performed works for several notable choreographers such as Nathan Trice, Rena Butler, and Patrick O’Brien. After Joffrey, he found work with Maleek Washington, Emily Greenwell, and Kayla Farrish. He can be seen in HBO’s Random Acts Of Flyness, led by Domani Pompey. He recently choreographed and performed his own work, “Mariposa” in collaboration with saxophonist Johnny Butler. Caleb is currently working with Kar’mel Small, MATHETA dance, Kayla Farrish, LaneCoArts, Emily Greenwell, and Spark Movement Collective.

Robert Rubama / Terre Dance Collective
Robert Rubama (They/He) is a graduate of George Mason University with a BFA in Dance. They have been able to work with companies such as Agora Dance, Haus of Bambi, Groundworks Dance Theater, PrioreDance, Carolyn Dorfman Dance, LaneCo Arts, Orange Grove Dance, & Peridance Contemporary Dance Company. Robert has also danced for choreographer Alejandro Cerrudo at The Joyce Theater in NYC & The Harris Theater in Chicago. They have been an artist in Residence at The National Building Museum and The Floor on Atlantic. They are the Founder/Artistic Director of Terre Dance Collective, a dog walker/sitter, and a freelance dancer/choreographer. Robert’s choreography has been performed by Jane Franklin Dance, Company E, Colgan High School Dance Company, Cleveland Dance Project, Spark Movement Collective, and Dogwood Dance Project. Robert will be performing with Flockworks (Co-Directed by Alice Klock and Florian Lochner) for their 2023 U.S Spring Tour.
Faustine Lavie
Faustine Lavie was born in Toulon, France, where she started ballet at 3 years old. She then studied in different renowned dance schools such as Paris Opera Ballet School and ESDC Rosella Hightower, before moving to NYC in 2015 to attend The Ailey School, where she graduated from the Certificate Program in May 2018. Faustine had the opportunity to perform works by many choreographers, such as Darrell Grand Moultrie, Manuel Vignoulle, Winston Dynamite Brown, Amy Hall Garner, Fredrick Earl Mosley, Clifton Brown and Shay Bland. She is currently a company member with iKADA Contemporary Dance Company, LaneCoArts, sarAika, The DynamitExperience, Keiko Fujii Dance Company and Six Degrees Dance. She founded Faustine Lavie Dance Project in 2020. The company has already performed in Philadelphia and NYC, including KnJ Theater at Peridance Center, TADA! Theater, Steps on Broadway, New York City Center Studios and Bridge For Dance.

Jordan Moredachi
J. Mordechai is a Brooklyn based producer/composer and interdisciplinary artist who uses sound, text, and sculpture to investigate the space between protest and pleasure.
Since 2016 he has released music that spans genres of pop, folk, noise, and club music. He is a current performing member of Beshken, Aisle Knot, and Crosslegged. As a composer/sound designer he has scored works for choreographers Liana Kleinman, Rosie D’Angelo, Max Stone, and more.

Emerging Artists Theatre’s New Works Series began in 2006 and focuses on new works, new talents, and new voices.
