Defne Halman* appearing courtesy of Actors' Equity Association in an Equity approved Showcase in the world premiere of the one woman show 'Noises In My Head'. The play written in Turkish by Beliz Güçbilmez, has been translated into English and this powerful work from Turkey is now being presented to New York audiences.
'Noises In My Head' is the story of a cleaning lady who is losing her memory and grasp on reality. She slips in and out of delusions. She's given an experimental drug that will help her remember. The medication takes her back through generations of war and destruction, which she tries to wipe clean. This becomes a burden that too heavy to carry. She starts over and builds a utopic country where everyone is equal, free and happy; only to find it shattered by the despotic regime in which she lives. But the seeds she has rescued from her land will crack open the walls of tyranny.
Theater for the New City is at 155 First Ave (bet. 9th & 10th Sts.), New York.
