A society of sworn coffee drinkers in Europe gathers for its daily ritual. But the harmony is disturbed by a terrible event – the discovery of a used teabag. As the investigation into possible Asian infiltration progresses, one question seems unavoidable: How far are they willing to go to track down the traitor and bring this abominable act to court? Jo Strømgren Kompani is known for mirroring the world through minute examination of our modern society at micro-level. They also do so in The Society, which has toured the world to brilliant reviews. The performance is finely balanced between humour and horror, in a study of how a teabag can start a world war.
