Hilary Hahn first performed as a soloist at just 11 years of age. She debuted at Carnegie Hall as a 17-year-old and has since played concerts across the world, both as a chamber musician and as a soloist accompanied by major orchestras. She will now perform a solo concert at the Oslo Opera House, accompanied by pianist Robert Levin.
Hahn has recorded a number of critically-acclaimed albums, and has received three Grammys for her work. She is particularly well-known for her poetic and lyrical tone and virtuosity, as well as for her creative repertoire choices and cross-genre collaborations.
In addition to being a pianist, Robert Levin is also a musicologist and composer. He specialises in historical performances, and as a piano soloist is most renowned for his concerts from the classicistic repertoire. He is an expert on Mozart, and during his performances attempts to recreate the practices of Mozart’s time by improvising cadences. Levin is currently Professor of Music at Harvard University.
