A six hundred pound recluse, hiding away from the world and slowly eating himself to death, is given one last chance at redemption. As he inches closer and closer to the inevitable, his friend Liz, a cynical atheist nurse, and Elder Thomas, a young, hopeful Mormon missionary both attempt to find in Charlie the will to be saved, physically and spiritually.

A 1-2 minute contemporary monologue, comedic or dramatic, OR one of the side monologues from the show (attached below)
THE WHALE CONFLICTS WITH: Ah, Wilderness!, Peter and the Starcatcher, War, The Drowsy Chaperone, A Man of No Importance, Constellations, The White Snake, Avenue Q, The Importance of Being Earnest, Purgatory, and Boom.
THE WHALE DOESN'TCONFLICT WITH: Process Project, In the Red and Brown Water, Hand to God (there is some overlap but Jordan has agreed to negotiate with cast members on this)
CHARACTER BREAKDOWN
CHARLIE: Early to mid-forties. Reclusive, resigned. An unyielding optimist. Weighs roughly six hundred pounds.
LIZ: Mid to late thirties. A nurse in personality and profession. Pragmatic, cynical, and deeply loyal.
Nineteen. Mormon. A fervid believer who has temporarily lost his way.
