THE THEATRE IN THE PARK SUMMER SEASON - The Theatre in the Park

Auditions for the 45th summer season at The Theatre in the Park will take place Saturday and Sunday, March 1 and 2, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Blue Valley High School, 6001 W. 159th Street, in Overland Park, Kansas. Those auditioning should follow the TTIP posted signs and enter through the door at the northwest corner of the building.

TTIP’s 45th Season offers a powerful line up some of the best family friendly musicals:
The performance schedule for TTIP’s 2014 summer season is:

• PIRATES OF PENZANCE – June 6-8, 12-14; Directed by Kevin Bogan
• GUYS AND DOLLS – June 20-22, 26-28; Directed by Hank Koehn
• HONK! – July 4-6, 10-12; Directed by Greg Shaw
• THE ADVENTURES OF TOM SAWYER – July 18-20, 24-26; Directed by Beth Wallerstein Huff
• RAGTIME – Aug. 1-3, 7-9; Directed by Mark Swezey
(NOTE: Show time for all productions is 8:30 p.m.)

I’m thrilled that we have two shows this season that are not only really great shows FOR families but they are also great shows for young performers,” said Tim Bair, TTIP Producing Artistic Director. “Both ‘Honk!’ and ‘The Adventures of Tom Sawyer’ have lots of roles for performers of all ages. I hope we get to see hundreds of kids at auditions this year.”
It is anticipated 700 to 800 people will audition and about 200 roles will be cast this year. To be considered for any role, performers must be willing to commit to scheduled rehearsals, in addition to the performance dates.

Those auditioning will be seen on a first come, first serve basis. All required forms will be provided on line beginning Feb. 15 at
www.theatreinthepark.org/auditions; please bring 11 copies of the forms to auditions. Those auditioning should be prepared to sing up to 16 measures of a song of their choice (preferably not a song from one of TTIP 2014 shows). An accompanist will be provided. Those auditioning will also be asked to participate in a dance audition as well and should bring appropriate clothing.

Those unable to attend open auditions may submit video audition by posting it on YouTube. The video audition should include 16 measures of singing, an example of dance or movement and be less than three minutes in total length. Precise instructions for submitting video auditions will be posted on the TTIP web site after Feb. 15.

Callbacks for the season are by invitation only and will be held on Saturday and Sunday, March 8 and 9, also at Blue Valley High School. Casting decisions for TTIP’s 2014 will be made on March 15 and posted on the theater’s web site sometime after 5 p.m.

There are numerous volunteer opportunities during the 2014 season. Those interested in being part of the summer magic behind the scenes should email
