THE CONFERENCE OF THE BIRDS - No Strings Theatre Company

AUDITION NOTICE: THE CONFERENCE OF THE BIRDS ON DECEMBER 19 AND 20

The Conference of the Birds is an ensemble theatrical production based upon a 12th century Persian poem about a group of birds on a quest to find their king. It is an allegory of a master leading his pupils to enlightenment. The journey of the birds takes them through the seven valleys of the quest: love, understanding, independence and detachment, unity, astonishment, and finally poverty and nothingness. Each valley teaches a different moral and not every bird will successfully complete the journey.

Director, Karen Caroe, would like to assemble a diverse, multi-cultural ensemble to bring this story to the stage.

Auditions are open to adult men and women of any age, shape, size and ethnicity. All those auditioning will read from the script, learn a movement piece and engage in some improvisation. The perusal script is on reserve at Branigan Library at the Research Help Desk.

Auditions will be held at the Black Box Theater on Monday, December 19 at 6:30 p.m.

Callbacks will be Tuesday, December 20 at 6:30 p.m.

The Conference of the Birds will begin rehearsals after the Christmas and the play opens March 17, 2017 and runs through April 2, 2017.
