Static: Noise of a New Musical is seeking non-equity actors and performers of all ages for the world premiere production during Summer 2022 in Washington, D.C. This production is presented as a part of the 2022 Capital Fringe Festival, a program of the Washington, DC non-profit Capital Fringe. Additionally, performers may be considered for vocalists on the Static Original Cast Album and future music streaming releases.
Audition Requirements:
Please prepare a short folk, rock, pop, or contemporary musical theater song. (Approximately 32 bars or 1:00 to 1:30.) Record a self-tape video and submit your audition materials to the
Google Form link by Friday, May 20th, 2022 at 11:59 pm EST. Performers must be from the Washington, D.C. area or be able to provide their own transportation and housing. Following Capital Fringe requirements, all performers must be vaccinated and will be required to submit proof of vaccination.

Auditions: Due Friday, May 20th, 2022 at 11:59 pm EST. (Digital self-tape submissions.) Callbacks: Performers may be invited to in-person callbacks, occurring in late May. ACTOR 1 (Maine McAfee): The role of Maine McAfee is cast, not currently accepting submissions for this role Maine: 12-18. Female-identifying or non-binary. Youngest sister and daughter in the McAfee Family. Determined, caring, resilient, optimist. Teams up with Charlie to find her mom, Sage. Principal Role. Mezzo-Soprano. Must play guitar.
ACTOR 2 (Wesser McAfee): Wesser McAfee: 35-55. Male-identifying or non-binary. Husband to Sage McAfee, who was lost in the woods on the Appalachian Trail, and father to Maine, Harper, Georgia, and Katahdin. Seasoned hiker, protector, loner. Runs the McAfee family. Wants to protect The McAfees and their life isolated and off-the-grid. Principal Role. Baritone/Tenor.
ACTOR 3 (Charlie Oscar): Charlie Oscar: 16. He/Him. Male-identifying. The Birthday Boy. Oldest brother in Oscar Family. A wannabe detective who receives an amateur ham radio for his birthday. Driven, eager, forgivable, nerdy, impulsive. Not too many friends. Teams up with Maine to find Sage McAfee. Principal role. Tenor.
ACTOR 4 (Harper McAfee; Radio User): Harper McAfee: 17-27. She/Her. Female-identifying. Oldest sister who has taken on an almost parental role in the McAfee family, and carries out her father, Wesser’s orders. Loving, strong, thorough, blunt. Supporting Role. Alto/Mezzo-Soprano. Radio User: Local Duncannon radio user. All gender identities.
ACTOR 5 (Georgia McAfee; Radio User): Georgia McAfee: 13-19. She/Her. Female-identifying. Mediator. Second youngest McAfee sister. Kind, sensitive, quiet. Peacemaker. Enjoys cooking and baking. Seems younger than she is. Supporting Role. Mezzo-Soprano/Soprano. Radio User: Local Duncannon radio user. All gender identities.
ACTOR 6 (Katahdin McAfee; Radio User): Katahdin McAfee: 15-23. He/Him. Male-identifying. Second oldest sibling, and only brother in the McAfee family. Middle ground. Easygoing, loyal, warm, grounded. Baritone/Tenor. Supporting Role. Radio User: Local Duncannon radio user. All gender identities.
