- In 2017, the Shakespeare Festival Education Tour performed at over 50 schools, to over 6,000 students. In addition to the shows, actors on the tour also serve as Teaching Artists for several workshops, working in pairs with a classroom of students. Past workshops have focused on character education, working with Shakespeare’s language, and creating plays from the students’ own works. Actors also serve as Assistant Stage Managers and are responsible for loading in, setting up, and striking the set, props, costumes, and sound equipment at each venue. Performances are mostly based in the St. Louis area during school hours, but some weeks are out of town, over night dates. Night and weekend performances are also occasional.
