SCENE SHOWCASE LIVE: - Vagabond Repertory Theater Company

This is an adaptation of the Disney Silly Symphony classic cartoon The Moth and The Flame, to be rehearsed for a Live Scene Showcase in Staten Island in the Summer of 2023.

Plot: One night, after an old clothing shop is closed for the night, a group of moths set their sights on the inside of it, in order to have fun and chow down on the clothes within. Two moths in particular get more then they bargained for when they have to contend with a flame/fire within the shop.

Note: There is *one* kiss at the end of the scene. For any performers (As well as the parents of said performers), PLEASE be mindful of this and be comfortable with it before auditioning. If a performer or a parent is NOT comfortable, the director asks that you do NOT put in for an audition.

Characters Needed:

Beane: Male, Age 11-12 Beane is a boy moth who, while a bit clownish and silly, as well as mischievous, all in all has a kind heart and sweet personality.

Director's Note: The director requests age appropriate performers to audition for this role only. That means between the ages of 11-12. We are not looking for older performers who can play younger.

Nia: Female, Age 11-12 Nia is a girl moth, who is shy, sweet, and very pretty. She can be a bit strong willed, and sometimes gets herself into sticky situations, but she is also quite smart, and realizes danger when she sees it.

Beane has a crush on her, and while Nia likes him back, she would prefer he works hard to court her, and is rather playful about it.

Director's Note: The director requests age appropriate performers to audition for this role only. That means between the ages of 11-12. We are not looking for older performers who can play younger.

The Flame: Male, Age 12-13 He is suave, smooth, and sophisticated, darkly handsome, but with an air of ominous menace about him.

He dresses well, and is the image of a 1940's-50's gangster type. He likes to think he's in full control, and he catches the eye of Nia, trying to lure her in with his charm and looks. But Nia soon comes to realize that he intends to burn her in the end, both metaphorically and literally.

Director's Note: The director requests age appropriate performers to audition for this role only. That means between the ages of 12-13. We are not looking for older performers who can play younger.
