Provincetown Theater Holds Open Auditions for

Stephen Sondheim’s Masterpiece Sweeney Todd

Helmed by artistic director David Drake, with musical direction by John Thomas, the 40th anniversary production will run all summer

The Provincetown Theater will hold open auditions for its 2019 summer production of Stephen Sondheim’s Tony Award-winning musical thriller Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street on Saturday, February 9th from 1-6pm, and Sunday, February 10th from 3-7pm. Auditions for union and non-union actors/singers will take place at the Provincetown Theater, 238 Bradford Street, Provincetown, MA 02657.

Director David Drake and musical director John Thomas will begin rehearsals for Sweeney Todd the third week of May (in accommodation with actors work schedules) and continue thru the month of June. Production is set to open in early July for a two-month run (Mon - Thurs) to August 29.

A cast of 10 actors/singers is needed. Except Mrs. Lovett, all roles open. Male characters (strong tenors and baritones) range from age 18 - 60. Female characters (strong sopranos) range from age 18 - 50. A summer-long commitment, non-union performers will receive a rehearsal honorarium in addition to a weekly performance salary of $300 a week. AEA performers: point-of-origin contracts. Please prepare two legit musical theater or operatic selections, and bring your own sheet music. Sides from script provided at auditions.
