SQUABBLES - Theatre in the Woods
AUDITIONS FOR SQUABBLES AT THEATRE IN THE WOODS
Imagine if your retired father moved in with you. And then your mother-in-law’s house burns down, and she moves in with you. Yes, sparks will fly!
Open auditions for Theatre in the Woods’ production of Squabbles, a comedy by Marshall Karp, will be held Sunday, January 19th, from 2:30-5:30 pm and Monday, January 20th, from 7-10 pm, at Estonian House, 14700 Estonian Lane, in Riverwoods. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script.
The play pits a father-in-law against a mother-in-law in a comedic succession of squabbles that drive their grown children crazy. Parts are available for 4 men and 3 women:
Jerry Sloan, a jingle writer, open-minded, easy-going; piano skills a plus.
Alice Sloan, Jerry’s wife, an attorney, and soon-to-be mother, smart, energetic and diplomatic.
Abe Dreyfus, Alice’s father, a cantankerous retired cabbie, with a quick wit and a sharp tongue.
Mildred Sloan, Jerry’s mother, a retired music teacher, as quick and sharp as Abe.
Hector Lopez, a Puerto Rican handyman, warm, honest and down to earth.
Sol Wasserman, Abe’s card-playing buddy, a retired pharmacist.
Mrs. Fisher, a very stern and strict nanny for Jerry and Alice’s baby.
The production is scheduled for March 21-23 and 28-30.
