OPEN AUDITIONS FOR SPRING AWAKENING AT THEATER BARN!
The Ridgefield Theater Barn will hold open auditions for Spring Awakening: A New Musical, book & lyrics by Steven Sater, music by Duncan Sheik, presented through special arrangement by Music Theatre International, on Sunday, June 24th from 5-8pm and Monday June 25th from 7-9pm, at the Ridgefield Theater Barn, 37 Halpin Lane, Ridgefield, CT. Callbacks are June 28th from 7-10pm. The production, directed by Alicia Dempster, choreographed by Regina Sweeney and produced by Wayne Leiss, will be presented Friday and Saturday evenings September 7th through October 6th, with Sunday matinees September 16th, 23rd and 30th at 5pm.
Please note that Spring Awakening deals with mature subject matter. Actors under the age of 18 must have parental consent before auditioning. Due to the nature of certain roles, actors interested in auditioning for Melchior, Wendla, Ernst, Georg, Hanschen and Otto must be 18 years of age or older. With the exception of the Adult roles, actors must be able to reasonably portray teens 14-17 years old. As with all productions at the Theater Barn, this is a non-paid, non-Equity production.
Those auditioning should prepare a brief, contemporary rock song or pop ballad NOT from Spring Awakening. Please no traditional musical theatre songs. Contemporary musical theatre songs are okay but must reflect the style of the show. Actors who are called back will be asked to read sides from the script and participate in a movement audition.
