AUDITION ANNOUNCEMENT: SISTER ACT in AUBURN. AUDITIONS DEC 4-6.
The State Theatre Acting Company and the Auburn Placer Performing Arts Center are pleased to announce auditions for SISTER ACT, written by Bill and Cheri Steinkellner with additional book material by Douglas Carter Beane, with lyrics by Glenn Slater and music by Alan Menken.
Our production will be directed by Ray Ashton and assisted and choreographed by Amy Wolfley.
ABOUT SISTER ACT
Sister Act is the feel-good musical comedy smash based on the hit 1992 film that has audiences jumping to their feet! Featuring original music by Tony- and eight-time Oscar winner, Alan Menken (Newsies, Beauty and the Beast, Little Shop of Horrors), this uplifting musical was nominated for five Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Filled with powerful gospel music, outrageous dancing, and a truly moving story, Sister Act is a sparkling tribute to the universal power of music and friendship.
AUDITION DETAILS
Cast Size: (20-24): 3 Female Leads, 8 Supporting Roles (6 Male/2 Female), 5 Featured Roles (4 Female/1 Male), along with Ensemble Parts for either genders. The role of Deloris is already cast.
Audition Dates: Sunday, Dec. 4, 4:00pm, Monday Dec. 5, 6:30pm. Auditions held on a first-come, first-served basis.
Callbacks (by invitation only): Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2016 at 6:30pm. If you are called back, we will ask you to prepare material from Sister Act.
Audition Locations: Dec. 4 - Pioneer Methodist Church, 1338 Lincoln Way, Auburn. Dec. 5 & 6 - State Theatre, 985 Lincoln Way, Auburn.
What to Prepare: Please prepare 32 bars each of two contrasting songs (one ballad and one upbeat) preferably from the 1950's-1970's era and NOT from Sister Act. Please bring sheet music in your own key. An accompanist will be provided. Please bring an 8x10 photo-headshot and resume of acting experience, if available.
Also, please print, fill out, and bring this audition form. You will also do readings from the script and learn a short dance routine, so please wear clothes in which you can move.
Rehearsal Dates: January 9 through March 16, 2017, 6:30 - 9pm(includes some Fridays). There will be one pick-up rehearsal on Thursday, March 23, 7:00pm (call time is 6:00pm). Need to be available all weekend for technical rehearsals March 11 and 12, and by 6:30pm Monday through Thursday of dress rehearsal week. Rehearsals during dress/tech week will run past 9:00pm, so please plan accordingly.
Performance Dates and Times: March 17-April 2, 2017. 7:30pmshows: March 17, 24, 25, 31, and April 1. 2:00pm shows: March 19, 25, 26, and April 1 and 2.
