Auditions to be Held on March 24th for
Signature Theatre’s Intensive Overtures Program
Summer Session Meets from June 18 – June 30, 2012

Arlington, VA, March 19, 2012 –Signature Theatre will be holding auditions for its intensive educational program Overtures on Saturday, March 24th at 10:00am. The two-week intensive training program in dance, acting, and vocal performance will meet six days a week from June 18th – June 30th, 2012. Master classes with notable theatre professionals are also scheduled on a regular basis. The program will culminate with the “Overtures Showcase,” to be performed in Signature’s MAX Theatreon June 30, 2012 at 5:00pm. Under the auspices of Signature’s Artistic Director Eric Schaeffer,Overtures is now celebrating its 12th year in the Theatre’s award-winning educational program.
Those interested in auditioning must call the Education Department in advance at
571-527-1857 to schedule an appointment. Applicants should prepare 32 bars of two contrasting pieces, in addition to a brief dance routine. For those who cannot attend an on-site audition, Signature accepts an audition DVD or video (deadline: April 2nd). Fellowships are available, for applicants with special circumstances. The Overtures faculty includes award-winning professionals from Broadway, the DC theater scene, and around the globe. Past guest instructors have included Tony Award®-winners Harriet Harris, Donna McKechnie, Michael Rupert, and Marsha Norman. Broadway performers Emily Skinner, Hunter Bell, James Barbour, Marc Kudisch, Judy McLane, and Matt Bogart have also taught classes for the distinguished program.
