SCERA YOUTH SHAKESPEARE COMPETITION TEAMS - SCERA Youth Theatre

SCERA Youth Theatre Announces August 21 Auditions for its Junior and Senior Shakespeare Competition Teams

(Orem, Utah) – SCERA Youth Theatre announces auditions for its Junior and Senior Shakespeare Competition Teams, under the direction of Andrew Joy, which will compete with an ensemble scene from “A Winter’s Tale” at the Utah Shakespeare Festival Oct. 4, 5, 6, 2012.

Auditions for students in Grades 6-12 will be held on Tuesday, August 21 from 4-6pm at the SCERA Center for the Arts, 745 South State, Orem. No appointment is necessary to audition.

For auditions, students should prepare a one-minute Shakespeare monologue. In addition, each auditioner should also bring two ideas for an individual monologue they might compete with, as well as two ideas for a 2-3 person scene for competition. These do not have to be from different shows. Students are not bound to these ideas for competition, and the instructors will help them choose their final pieces.

The Junior and Senior Shakespeare Competition Teams will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-6pm beginning August 28 and will continue through the competition at the beginning of October. There will be an opportunity to continue through the school year in SCERA Youth’s Theatre’s Bardly Working class, which will perform the full version of “A Winter’s Tale” in Spring 2013.

Tuition and competition fees will be announced at a later date.
