San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus Holds Info Night

Singers and Volunteers Sought for San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus Holiday Show

Do you love to sing? Maybe it’s in the shower or in your car or in the middle of Mo’s dance floor on a Saturday night. If so, and you like putting some loco to your motion, come to the San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus (SDGMC) “Info Night” and learn more about the chorus, its members and upcoming shows.

“I’ve been singing with the chorus for 15 years and absolutely love it,” said Joe Gregore, SDGMC Membership Director. “We have so much fun. There’s nothing like being around a great group of talented guys and putting on incredible shows throughout the year.”

The chorus also needs volunteers for its Operations team to help with the “behind-the-scenes” activities at each show and during special projects and events.

Everyone interested is invited to “Info Night” on Wednesday, September 4 at 7 p.m. at the University Christian Church at 3900 Cleveland Avenue in Hillcrest. Pre-registration is requested by completing and submitting an application at
www.sdgmc.org and clicking the “Join Us” link. Actual auditions will be held at a later date.

“New members will get to travel with us to Palm Springs for our annual October chorus retreat,” stated Artistic Director Gary Holt. “It’s a wonderful time to cement new friendships during rehearsals mixed with a lot of fun.”

All singers joining will begin rehearsing for the hugely popular San Diego favorite, the SDMGC holiday show. It will take place on Saturday, December 14 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, December 15 at 3 p.m. at the Balboa Theatre in downtown San Diego.

“The holiday concert is always the greatest time to join the chorus family,” noted Holt. “We’ll be working on our all-new, twisted version of The Nutcracker along with some of the most beautiful holiday music ever written for men’s chorus.”
